December 29th, 2019 01:43 AM #1275i once had my disk machined/refaced. the driver (not me!) did not know what that strange sound was all about, everytime he stepped on the brakes.
by the time i got to it, putting on the brakes generated a gravel-y sound.
when we had a look-see, the friction pad was ... absent!
after several years, the said re-faced disk is still fine. walang kabig, etc.
just do not go below the prescribed thickness limit.

Happens only when applying brakes at higher speeds ... it's not the tires ...
