The current RAV4 sold locally costs 2.1M for the TOTL model (2.5L NA AWD). The top-spec 4x2 model is around 1.8M.

Toyota PH focuses on units that sell. They don't make that much money with the Camry and RAV4 so they just price them higher to make up for the slow sales. Go to any Toyota dealer and rarely can you see a Camry or Rav4 on display. If you do want to buy one, no test drive and the one they order for you is considered sold.

Why can Subaru and Mazda offer competitive pricing for their better-spec'd units?

Anyway, if it were me, I’d get a vehicle from a different brand with better specs and priced reasonably cheaper. Yung natipid mo na pera pwede mo pa gamitin pang maintenance at gasolina.

Rav4 will undoubtedly not have safety sense if Camry doesn't have it nga. Maybe on another update. Rav4 in the US has it standard across the range.

I always liked the Rav4 since the first Gen. I have the '06 and love everything about it except the FC.

If they offer this locally with the 2.0 engine and better fuel economy, I might just be getting my second Ravie.

Any news when and if this will be launched in da Pilipins and if it will have the same engine as in SG?

Thanks brother, sources say release is scheduled right before Valentine's and they won't be offering the AWD version, that will suck but I would like to see and test drive the 2.0 if given the opportunity.

Having a family changes one's needs, I need the same roominess yet perfect size for our roads that the Rav provides so I wouldn't mind the less powerful engine, better FC is priority this time.

Had a Subie, found it too bumpy for our roads. Baby kept waking up. Maintenance costs were too high.

Tried an Xwind, great FC but I couldn't justify the extra expense of buying the CRV-D when I only clock 6K to 7K kms./ year (I ride my bike to work everyday)

The Ravie is the only one I kept, maintenance is easy, parts everywhere, it's comfy, spacious and not once has it let me down in almost 14 years of usage.

It's all subjective anyway, based on our personal experience, me thinks.

Let's hope it doesn't disappoint too much. I know that TMP wants to protect their cash cow, the Fortuner, but for people like me who don't need such a big SUV for Philippine roads, the Ravie is ideal IMHO. (Japan CBUs give me better peace of mind as well, hehe)

More details for the upcoming local version of the RAV4. No more 4x4 model and engine option is the direct-injected 2.5L petrol rated at 203hp paired with an 8-speed AT tranny.

Now, that's quite expensive, around similar pricing as the new Sorento.
