good day mga sirs! my bro had the same issue on his fortuner he bought sa Toyota Shaw. Naayos naman ung concern nya ng maisabay sa 1,000 PMS nya sa Toyota Plaridel Bulacan. I suggest itry nyo don & wala daw masyado pila and the best daw ang mga service people nila unlike to other Toyota dealers na pahirapan makasingit.

Mga sir, i need your inputs with my current predicament wih my fortuner V. Aware naman kami sa jerky transmission, kaya last march 25 pina ECU update namin to correct the shift shock. Naminimize naman ung jerk, pero napansin ko nawalan ng hatak. Nag fully synthetic oil pa ako nung 1k PMS. I can't help but compare dun sa fortuner G namin na malakas ang hatak considering mineral oil lang ung pinagamit ko dun nung 1k PMS. Ibinalik ko sa Toyota Plaridel to check kung saan ang problema since sila ang nag ECU update ng dalawang unit namin.

They connected a laptop to see kung may error. Kase ang complain ko delay ang shifting ng gears ng V, unlike sa G na nagshishift ng 40, 60, 80, so on. Itong V 40, then 90-100 na next shift.

Has any toyota fortuner '16/'17 M/T owner experience any problems with M/T transmissions? I am inclined to purchasing a Fortuner with manual transmission instead of an automatic transmission after reading all the issues on the later. Kindly send me feedback, thanks!

"Thanks for your comment. I can't imagine a M/T version would have any downshifting jerks. I must get the manual transmission then even if it's a chore to drive in Manila traffic. Yours must be more fuel efficient too..."

THe issue was confined to the AT models... In Manuals, obviously you control the shifting with the clutch pedal...

"Thanks bro! I understand that would be the case... It's just disheartening to learn that one has to head to the toyota service department to bring back a brand new Fortuner for repairs..." Thanks all!"

Wow...akala ko ako lang me ganun case.....saying naman 20K natin. I'll give them a few more months and kapag mag 6months na I will report them to DTI for that fraud practice. Malinaw sa fineprints ng Ads nila na it is reimbursable. Let's see how Toyota will handle the reimbursement of the paid reservation.

Depending on the dealer some dealer 2 weeks labas na refund. In my case wala na magagawa. Have to live with the problem jerking till they find a update. Or loose a lot sa depreciation. Antay nalang kayo untill problem fix. Ill update this thread all the time kung safe na bumili.

You can sell the Fortuner now and still get a good price while there's a long line at the dealers.

Simple call or letter to DTI will make them move faster.

    Is it really bothersome bro?

I understand that there is no issue during acceleration and steady speed,- but jerking occurs during deceleration (more so, downhill)... Is that correct?

I am certain,- birthing pains of a product... But then again, how soon can Toyota rectify the issue?

I know the feeling. It happens in my mustang but only in sport mode. It jerks during downshifts when you slow down. During normal Mode there is no jerkiness. Am okay with it as it is Sports mode after all and the parameters change for the throttle and the transmission. However for a fortuner this is unacceptable. Does it have a sport mode? Eco mode? Go to Eco mode and try if there is still jerkiness during the downshift.

Question, is this jerky transmission considered a defect even if such behavior does not affect function and safety?
