Not sure of the weight differences but given the torque specifications on the 2.4L, under normal circumstances and load i dont think the weight difference would make that kind of difference. In hindsight im thinking it may be more of the Fortuner being factory fresh when i tested it, vis-a-vis the now well broken in Hilux.

October 26th, 2016 10:01 AM #1797I've driven the Fortuner quite a few times already. Specifically 2.4G 4x2 AT. These are my nitpicks I guess:
The suspension is still transmitting even minor bumps into the cabin. It is still not close to how the previous Gen Montero tuned the suspension for bumps. On highway surfaces, it glides.
I don't know why but I find the seats hard/uncomfortable to sit on. I prefer the seats of the previous gen Montero and I think that has to do with the seats not being fabric seats. There is less flex on the seats when you sit on it. It's the same for the front or back seats for me.
I don't turn on the eco or power mode. So it's set to normal basically. But when I drive, the eco light turns on and off. On most of the time. So I kind of wonder why they had to do that? Does it mean the car is automatically changing into eco mode eventhough the button isn't pressed? How are the owners finding this?
The eco gauge is not intuitive. I've tried understanding it when I drive and I don't get why they design it that way. It's basically 10 squares which fill up depending on how you drive. The first to eighth square is where the "eco range/bracket" is and the last two aren't included. Guess what fill rating would be the most economical? 1/10! I mean why didn't do the reverse? make the range 3 to 10. 10/10 being the most economical way of driving.
Haven't really tried manual mode of the transmission in ascents with curves so I can't say how it performs.
Do I like the car? I like the look way more than the current Montero. I'm already used to the wider turning radius. Speakers are definitely better than what we have in the previous gen Montero. I personally give it a 6-7 out of 10 grade as comfort was a big minus because of the seats. I am not a fan of the seats.
