One contribution if I may. The internet is great and even foreigners can see this, talagang exciting.
Suggestion lang to each station, sana may mga volunteers who will clean up and maintain it themselves. Take out garbage and all that sort and make a particular sight to see, like if its near the beach, show off in the internet that this station caters to beach goers, ang ganda talaga which will lead to upliftment of the lives of the poor. PNR has so much to offer and lets keep the tracks clear of squatters and growing , unattended grass, as I have suggested before bring in the goats and horses to eat the overgrown grass . Tourist spot pati ang mga horses diba?
There has to be an information booth on each station which is located outside the waiting area kasi baka magalit ang admin.
Like if nasa Laguna, their tourist spot is the well known Pansol. Each station can be a unique one compared to the next one. All of this volunteer work. What you guys think.

You may delete the other one.

Anyway, i think the PNR is doing the right thing. Even with minimal funding they are doing something.

I do hope more of the old stocks (similar with those refurbished units in Naga still considered by rail experts as relatively modern) will be expertly refurbished to compliment the brand trains from Korea plying the Tutuban-Alabang route.

The ROW should also be fenced off but I hope LGUs will help in protecting the PNR trains and assets.

According to what I am seeing, especially with the new DMUs, We could have renovated the old cars and fixed the engines instead of buying the new dmu's. But no regrets, nandiyan na sila and lets keep them clean and maintained. Marami ng customers, riders and dadami pa yan and they , PNR, can maintain it for better/safer travel for all. I tell you, the tourist coming off the airport will packed this trains going to beaches in the south that is why the station near the airport must be bigger than the other little stations, sorry po, sometimes I get carried away when I am excited. I hope I am sharing that excitement with you guys. Can you imagine a 50 year old man like me is so excited about this, what more with you young people. Ang galing talaga. Good LUck to all ! ! !

Wow, what can I say? They are truly beautifull. How do you find the time to take the pxs. What is Naga good at. Anything beautifull to see there? Lets put a promo for this station and maybe, foreigners who probably are looking for a different place to see, will go here instead. Instead of Thailand, or Boracay. Boracay is too populated na. Thanks again sa pictures. mabuhay !

we used to ride trains going to bicol when i was a kid. it was a long ride but as a kid, it was well worth it kasi dami ko nakikita sa daan pag me araw pa. countryside scenes you wouldn't see along the highway.
I dream that someday i could share the experience of long train rides to my daughter.

On the copied picture above, can someone tell us what the two holed attachment is for above the left and right side of door frame and below the roof. Its like something needs to be attached to it like a shade?

naga is most famous for its penafrancia festival, but more importantly, i think naga is basically the gateway to bicolandia. from there it's the launch pad of places like the very famous & hip camsur water complex (CWC). and then a bit further you've got the stunning beaches of caramoan where the french & the israeli versions of their local survivor reality shows were held. of course, you've got the majestic mayon volcano in albay. for mountaineers like me, also there's mount isarog (but i don't think i can no longer climb that). and then in donsol you've got the eco-tourism in the limelight where whale watching is its main come-on.

btw, those are the very places i plan to visit come summer of next year. hopefully, by then the trains are all in very good operational conditions

Hi Guys, like most of you, I'm so happy to see the pictures of new and refurbished trains, my Dad is from Bicol and I always remember his stories before how he rides the PNR Train to Manila and back while he was still a student. I really hope they continue to do a good job modernizing our PNR. Keep it up, I hope to ride it too once it's fully operational up to Bicol. More power to PNR!!

    baludoy,

Thanks for the info. How do we show this on the internet? Pictures maybe? One important detail to this, all pictures have to show clean environment, just like Boracay, they rake the sand of the beaches every other morning, all garbage picked up and hauled away. In Naga, since its same as Boracay, the locales must have a list of volunteers who will do the clean up every day, every week, every month. Everyone must have a hand on this upliftment. Its easy cleaning up if only few tourist comes but when things pick up its not a going to be a joke when maintaining cleanliness and so a lot of helping hands have to be there. I hope local government see my vision. lol !

PNR is still in the rehab stage. Right now, old sleepers and rails in the Metro are being rehabilitated. Eventually, full service between Tutuban and Alabang will soon commence.

bakit nga ba naging inactive bigla ang pnr dati? mismanagement? lack of funds? a victim of natural disaster (in bicol)?

I'm also wondering why PNR stopped its Bicol operations before.

    Edit:
PNR totally stopped its Manila-Bicol-Manila service for more than two years due to heavy damage wrought by super typhoons “Milenyo” and “Reming” to substantial portions of its tracks starting from Calamba City in Laguna up to Legazpi City in Albay
    from http://wowlegazpi.com/2009/04/23/pnr...-service-soon/

Anyway, the PNR trains for the Manila-Bicol route look so much like the locally assembled buses in Laguna, pero siyempre yung bus builders din yung nagrefurbish right? In fairness, they look really good for refurbished units unlike some of the refurbished buses I rode before. Looking forward to riding the Bicol Express in the future.

You know? Mismanagement malamang ang naging dahilan. PNR is a major transpo for all and it pays by itself. Recession of what, may sumasakay diyan and if money is mismanage, then walang perang pang maintain and if theres no maintenance , like refurbishing down engines, missing rails, missing screws, and the list goes on and on.
The person to lead PNR must have a heart and passion for the trains and save those moneys earned to buy new faster trains and better rails. I just wonder, papaano mag tatravel in one rail road ang express papuntang Bicol and those dmu's getting passengers just for metroman!ila use.
Again, the person to lead the PNR department must , must have the heart and passion mainly for the trains. It's hard to find one much less for the new president who will love to lead the Philippines.
Mabuhay po tayong lahat and please monitor the person who will lead this department of the government.
Or else this changes will go down the drain again.

I hope siya pa ren ang maglead ng PNR under the new government ni Noynoy/Mar next year. If not then the next guy has to have the passion for locomotives. Peace ! !

By the way, thanks again for the new pictures. Ganda ganda.
