How's your experience on long drives with the Jimny? Tipong NLEX or SLEX then probinsya ang destinasyon. Like going to Baguio. Given na yong sikip sa likod so that's non-issue. Just want to know yong driving experience. Can it maintain 100kph sa NLEX without too much effort and with confidence?

100kph sa NLEX kayang kaya (stock jimny). Drove sa SCTEX, di ko namamalayan, nag-130kph na ako. Na-realize ko lang na ambilis ko na when i saw my side mirrors na medyo vibrating dahil sa hangin.

Thanks. That's good to know. How old na Jimny nyo during that time?

It was around seven years old at the time. I only got to drive it to Ilocos Sur and back twice. Mostly tagaytay/batangas lang ang pinakamalayo ko. Di ka naman maiiwan sa daan. Of course, my jimny (like most other jimnys) has the jimny wobble issue. Ramdam lang naman yun between 60kph and 80kph. Katakot lang pag first time mo ma-experience. I think some people here were able to solve, or at least mitigate, the problem. Some say a good wheel balancing will do the trick.

The wobble issue actually is yong concern ko kaya ko natanong ang highway/long drive performance nya. And i wonder how it gets triggered. Does it always wobble at 60-80kph, or sometimes lang, rarely? Since kahit medyo relatively new na Jimny has the tendency to wobble as well, as per what i have read somewhere. Delikado kasi mag-wobble at highway speeds.

I do not know what triggers it but I know when it is triggered based on my experience: as soon as lumampas ka ng 60kph, mag-ready ka na. Then bago mag 80kph, mawawala na iyong wobble. You're good to go hanggang gaano kabilis ang kaya mo. Pag bumaba ka uli ng 60-80kph, hayan na naman. Basta below 60kph or above 80 kph ka, walang problema sa wobble. This has been my vehicle's consistent behavior mula noong mabili ito na brand new in 2002. So what I do is, always stay above 80kph... sa highway.

A mechanic I talked to a few months back said that there might be a need to put spacers (?) somewhere sa may gulong (not sa tire o sa mags but doon mismo sa assembly mismo) sa front passenger side. Nung jacked up iyong front part of the vehicle, he tried to wiggle/move the tires/wheels, holding the top and bottom part. Sa driver's side na gulong, di gumagalaw/nagwi-wiggle. Sa passenger's side, hayun gumagalaw. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time and opportunity to get those spacers (he said to prepare about 3 pieces) and to go back to that mechanic to try the solution.

Is the wooble that bad that an accident is very possible or controllable naman? Yes, i've read about the need for spacers, some add steering stabilizers, wheel balancing, etc. Some have been successful in eliminating it, though not completely yata since bumabalik din.

Thanks very much sir for sharing a detailed info on this.
