good day every one!
bagong member po ako dito sa tsikot.
actually i was tasked by my girl to look for a used jimny kasi she likes it sooo much daw and she likes a high ride. newbie driver kasi sya. and i came across this thread.
1. ok ba ang 2002 jimny manual?
2. what critical things do i have to look at when i inspect the vehicle?
3. ano ang good price para sa year model na to?
4. if you have the 2002 model, and if you dont mind, may i see some pics of its interior?
i am specially taking special attention in searching for this car because pansin ko lang a lot of your jimnies where first intended for your wives or girlfriends and then you fell in love with it yourself. and malamang sa malamang it might happen to me because i loove the outdoors! hahah! actually, sabay kami nagbasa ng jimny threads, and my girl told me na if ever we get to buy her a jimny, i should not "steal" it! hahahah!
any info will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
btw, may nakikita akong beige jimny along maginhawa st., sikatuna village malapit dun sa barbero ko. hehehe! la lang. do any of you guys own that? nice ride.

Al14,
Most of the Jimnys that are for sale are 2003-2004 models and they fetch anywhere between 320k-400k depending on the condition. Manual transmission is okay but I know a Jimny offroad buff who swears by the Auto trans. The gearing of the A/T is very good for offroad and the shifting is very smooth. Heavy traffic in the city can also become bearable. There's just the drawback of more fuel consumption.
The engine should be quiet and wouldn't mind some high revving. For the undercarriage, try to inspect the steering linkages and tierods. Have the front lifted and shake the wheel horizontally then vertically and there should not be anything loose.
Test drive it in uneven pavement and see if there's some steering wobble. This is a common illness of the Jimny but easily remediable.
For the aircon, if it doesn't get cold enough, check the auxillary fan if it's working.
These are some issues that I had to deal with when I bought my used Jimny, but when they were all taken cared of, it feels like brandnew again, except, of course, of the odor.
