Actually, nothing new about an EV Jimny though.

Back in 2021, a British guy converted his 3rd gen (JB43) to electric. (Sarili lang niyang project!)

Details on his conversion project (7 videos) are on his YT channel if anyone's interested:

also check out the Jeep Wrangler Magneto. it's just a concept car. they just took out the engine tranny fuel tank and mufflers and put batteries in those places. this is one way to do it (1 motor driving the original 4x4 drivetrain)

another way is a clean sheet design like Rivian. 4 motors, one for each wheel so no differential bulges.

at this point electric isn't rocket science limiting factor is battery capacity so they make them super aero so you don't waste energy on the highway. so for sure the jimny EV is gonna waste a lot of watt-hours just pushing air away, a fact that probably isn't very obvious to many, the vast majority of your energy use on the highway is air resistance. just feel your tires they're not super hot so you're not wasting a lot of energy through rolling resistance

i'm probably the biggest fan of electric propulsion in this forum. however i prefer my jimny just the way it is, gasoline

Question...would anyone know if this the right plugNplay Valeo Montero fan for the stock JB43 condenser fan motor? Thanks ahead!screenshot_20230321_133707_lazada.jpgscreenshot_20230321_133854_lazada.jpgscreenshot_20230321_133655_lazada.jpg20230321_093020.jpg

Baka pwede mo pa tawaran ng konti.
The last units of these JB43s were selling for only Php 850,000 brand new (but old stock) at the dealership back in 2019.

Inspect for rust at problem areas, and hopefully, the owner didn't have it undercoated or had similar treatments (Ziebart, Tuff Coat etc.) applied.

Speaking of Jimnys, I've seen a lot more stupid mods lately by some other JB74 owners.

Instead of spare tire delete (replacing rear spare tire cover with a flush panel and eliminating the spare tire), I see Jimnys retrofitted with 215 or 235 radials, but retaining the stock rear 195/80 spare tire. Less stupid than spare tire delete, but stupid just the same.

Maliit yung stock tire na reserba compared to the 215s & 235s - and I doubt the stock tire can be fitted in a "donut" temporary fashion with 215s & 235's to get you to the vulcanizing shop man lang.

Balak ata nilang gawing tricycles Jimny nila pag na flat-an sila

when i upgraded to R/T tires i replaced all five coz if you find yourself having to swap in your spare in a difficult trail you might not be able to get out having one highway tire in the mix

but on pavement it should be fine. the stock tire is actually very close in diameter to 215/75r15. also it's not like it's something like a subaru that's sensitive to mismatched tires diameters...

speaking of stupid... yung mga stock na naka 235, coz they will rub at extreme articulation. won't rub if you just drive to the mall

Window shopping mode pa lang naman.

Salamat sa tip. Mababa pala ang bnew price dahil new old stock. Grabe kasi mahal bnew ngayon, though next gen bigger body at engine.

That's assuming you're only crawling in traffic.

The 215/75s measure 27.7 while the stock 195/80s measure only 27.3 - you will be pulling to one side (kakabig) wherever the smaller tire is mounted. Pag gumagapang lang sa traffic, you COULD get away with that, but if nasa highway ka at highway speeds you will end up in a spin-out.

    I over inflate si 195.
I under inflate naman si partner na 215.
Same diameter na, unbalanced naman rolling resistance, balik sa dati.
    Hehe.

Neither's mine. 3 yrs old and no issues whatsoever.
Initial 2 PMS lang sa casa, the rest is OC owner self PMS strictly following the service manual, with full record documentation.

I'm very happy with my little mud slugger and never plan to sell it.

planning to keep it for 15yrs

    just done 10,000 km

already replaced the transfer case fluid w/ ravenol MZG 90. a lot thicker than the watery 75w stock fluid but the whine is still there LOL

changed the rear diff oil with kixx GL-5 80w90. front diff not yet

i'll probably do ATF drain/fill (approx 2.5 liters) every 10k. ravenol T-IV atf

bendix dot3 every 2yrs or less

    10w30 Accel (by mag1) every 6 months
