Thanks! Expected na mas mahina hatak since RWD, mas mabilis talaga FWD. Yes, I love the design. Cheers!

like i said it's got lots of compromises. 2 less doors. tiny boot. heavy axles. heavy ladder frame. etc

but i still want one pwede lagyan ng motorcycle rack sa likod, coz of the ladder frame. can't do that w/ a monocoque car

My main purpose is for my daily drive which is mostly city-driving. My route is just house to office and meetings in between, mon to sat, then Sundays church or mall, and dinner with family. So I was thinking that for the 6 days a week the Jimny would be truly functional for me. Even on Sunday drives, we have 2 kids that would fit nicely at the back seats and we seldom have cargo to load anyway it's just us doing our Sunday rounds. If we plan to go on trips with cargo space needed, then of course Jimny is out, we'll just use our old 2nd gen CRV 7 seater or Urvan Estate.

Before I decided to get the Jimny, my considerations were the CRV and Rav4. I went to see the new Rav4 but it was already big and not a compact SUV anymore. It has a wider and longer body which turned me off. As for the CRV, my sister who I work with got hers early and beat me to it so that kinda kills it for me not being the one to own one first in the family While the other pickup based SUVs are too impractical for me, big and bulky. My current daily driver is the 1st gen Xtrail 2.5L AWD, great suv but not very efficient FC at 5.7kpl at city driving. I'm somewhat tired of it just want brand new car for myself.
Just curious re the first gen Xtrail, yours is the 2.5AWD, my sister in law's is the 2.0 FWD only and it is an AT. For reference, me and my bro are using it as a backup car exclusively for city driving and just keeping up with maintenance (annual PMS only). Their family's complaint with the Xtrail was they said it was a gas guzzler. I was honestly curious as I like driving it for what it is, even with the age.

So I have topped it off (full tank method) thrice while monitoring distance traveled. I got 8kpl on the 2nd Full Tank (as computed) and 7.5 kpl on the 3rd full tank, only city driving.

Told my sister in law this and she was surprised.

I told her, did any of you guys turn off O/D (Overdrive)? And does your AWD also have O/D? I am not too familiar with that generation of Xtrail but the one I'm mentioning is a 2003 model/unit. =)

When in O/D, it is like it only has 3 gears instead of 4 gears and likes to kick up revs to 2500rpm (minimum) before it shifts. Just thought I'd mention it.

The Over Drive switch is on the gear lever and the dash tells you it is now "O/D off" that lights up when you press it. But when it is "on" you don't have any indicator that it is on. I was actually wondering why they tell you it is off, but not when it is on. The exact opposite of what Toyota did before around that period.

You can select 2wd mode, awd lock, or auto mode, not much diff really on the FC with 2wd and auto mode, of course 2wd is a little better. Or maybe need to change the O2 sensor even without the check engine light.

Mine is also year 2003.

    - Haha I don't really mind this, just that On goes until 4th gear and off until 3rd gear haha

    hindi sya pang porma bro...

what you see is what you get, a true 4x4 offroader, and that's what exactly it is. they are not designed for speed and break neck acceleration. even though they have the same engine as the new ertiga, they are NOT the same platform.

know what you are buying then you can say it's sulit or not. ertiga is not a 4x4, and it is exaclty designed like that as well. if your definition of sulit is a 7 seater pinoy family carrier, then clearly ertiga is super sulit. :D

go look for a true 4x4 offroader that can go (almost) anywhere, compare the price with the jimny, and tell me if it's not sulit. what comes close? none! :D jimny is a niche car, and people buy it for what it is, and people who buy it will compare it to a land rover or a g wagon or even a land cruiser. jimny is nowhere near the price of those true 4x4 offroader as well. so for me, sulit si jimny. but that's me, that's how i define sulit.

    just my 2 cents.

Dropped by a Suzuki dealership last weekend.

No discounts daw, since andami daw na naka-reserve na buyers na naka-waitlist
Ubos na rin daw stocks nung old model.

I wonder how well this car will sell once feedback comes back from buyers who were able to buy the new unit. That is, yung totoong review by actual owners, not some PR stint

The typical Filipino mentality of sulit is directly proportional to how many passengers a car can carry. Plus marks if it looks like an SUV (even if it doesn't). Plus marks again if it looks "sporty" (strictly looks only).

dami nang user reviews sa youtube. you're right those "professional" reviews are useless

but don't expect anything horribly bad about the new jimny

btw i've read some posts about the a/c being not particularly powerful. fwiw when i checked under the hood the a/c compressor is tiny, not much bigger than my fist

Not much different from the previous gen. For those looking for a small car that's easy to own, drive, & shadetree mechanic or self maintain, this is it! Real RWD. Simple. Rugged. Reliable. & 1 bonus....Cool![emoji41]

that would depend on how well the test-ride goes.

but should we decide to, we will probably go to the end of the line and wait for many months...
unlike our colleague here, hindi kami malakas sa suzuki.

It'll be a ride back in time, doc. Back to bare basics....back to the rough....back to good, rugged, carefree, doc.[emoji4]
