Because it's already tried and tested. Reliable. For a 1.4L engine, 4AT tranny should suffice as it spreads good torque on all gears.
Same with Honda's unchanged 1.5 engine(old but gold) shared across City, Jazz, BR-V and Mobilio. Why change it if it's working fine and delivers good output.
i wonder,
what are the ciaz's local sales figures,
the vitara's sales figures,
and the minicars' sales figures?
Ciaz 61 units for all of 2021
Have to say, I hardly see any on the road.

Agree with axing the Ciaz. Gastos lang sa kanila yun, nobody likes the car enough to actually buy it, and they end up having to stock parts and train their techs to support it.
Vitara is a shell of its former self. Used to be a relatively small but utilitarian SUV with real 4x4 cred. Ginawang soft-roader. I agree they should just axe this model as well.
Jimny OTOH is selling very well, only limited by the supply.
spresso selling that well!
yet i see it only rarely...
must be my neighborhood...
whenever i pass by the suzuki casa along buendia corner bautista, the place looks deserted of humen...
i almost bought a ciaz... changed my mind and got a used altis from a relative, instead.
whew!
heh heh.
