2.0Li for a SUV like the Forester, CX5 and CRV can feel a bit underpowered (emphasis on _bit_) on an uphill drive or overtaking on a highway with a loaded trunk and full of passengers. A 2.5 liter engine will perform with less effort and with better fuel economy on such situations. Cargo weight matters.

I think underpowered is really subjective, unless you always put your car on the track testing its power or loadin it heavy always.

I Have the 2.0 L variant happy with the torque i get on my drives, compared to our previous FD 1.8 i find the forester quicker to get to speed i want to go.

I think the 2019 Forester will perform the same, with the added interior trim and exterior plastic aesthetics that wont be an issue.

These folks complain of engines of being "underpowered" when they haven't tried the full potential of such engines by driving lamely at just below 3k rpm.

I guess you can say the drivers are those who are "underpowered" for not making full use of the tools at their disposal. Most people forget that gas NA engines reach their peak torque at 4k rpm and peak power at 6k rpm. So by driving at 3k rpm or below, they may just be utilising half the capability of the engine.

Since it's subjective, why dont we discuss power in terms of power output and not displacement. [emoji23]

For it’s purpose as a family vehicle, the hp and torque is more than adequate. We’re not racing around in the metro with a small SUV.

What I’d like to see is better interior, modern sound system with Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay and EyeSight tech. That more than makes up for the “regular” hp numbers.

Appreciate the responses po for my dent issue.
Sorry if ibabalik ko ito hehe - seems like there's a healthy dose of power discussions already.

Never opened up a bumper or a screw to my unit - yung pagsundot po ba sa dent area is sundot lang po talaga or need ko baklasin ang bumper?
Medyo mahirap lang buhusan ng hot water kasi paloob po yung bumper.

    salamat ng madami ulit!

In the new age of turbocharging, engine displacement is not a big factor anymore. My other car's 1.0L 3-cylinder produces better power than 1.6L NA engines and similar torque as 2.0L NA engines.

Bro, you have a point. Something more tangible is better appreciated over outright performance/speed.

Because even output is misleading. A Fiesta Ecoboost with 120 hp will out-accelerate an Everest 3.2 with 200 hp.

0-100 for the Fiesta is 9 sec. 12 sec for the Everest.

And in the end, most people don't care.

    Exactly.

MOST BUYERS DON'T CARE ABOUT POWER. If it gets them from point A to point B and doesn't use a lot of gas doing so, that's fine. They move on to other aspects of the car (features, comfort, resale, reliability, etc).

I'm willing to bet my car that most car-owners don't even know how much power their car makes, much less how it compares vis-a-vis the competition.
