Delta variant surge hits vaccination poster boy...
Amid virus surge, Israel said seeking to bring forward Pfizer vaccine deliveries | The Times of Israel
The efforts at obtaining the vaccines came as Israel for the second day in a row recorded more than 100 new COVID-19 cases. Daily caseloads had previously dropped to low dozens or even less, until the recent resurgence of patients, blamed on the highly infectious Delta variant of the virus.
The Health Ministry said Wednesday another 110 new coronavirus cases were identified the previous day, taking the number of active cases to 554. Tuesday’s new cases included 64 children and teens, and 14 individuals entering the country from overseas, the Kan public broadcaster reported.
In response, national virus czar Nachman Ash said that health officials would present the government with possible actions to curb the pandemic, including a potential imminent return of the indoor mask mandate.

“New normal”
Dad of a friend died 2 days ago, improving na nga we thought for good na.
Suddenly bumagsak nanaman oxygen, got intubated na ICU expired the next day.
Bill reached almost 1M.
Add that the hospital only categorized the case as severe not critical covid pneumonia.
Stressed and emotionally drained ka na nga due to the loss of a loved one, isama mo pa financial concern dahil ginipit ka nung hospital for the benefits to be applied.

Senators: Are officials profiting from sale of shields? | Philstar.com
.Senators have raised the possibility that some government officials may be profiting from the sale of face shields, noting that health authorities have yet to present solid scientific basis for their mandatory use
That’s why we can’t blame others to speculate that face shields are a huge racket or business,” Villanueva said.
Unfortunately, some large hospitals have over 1B in unpaid collections from Philhealth

Ganyan din nangyari dun sa tatay ng kilala ko.
Nakaligtas sa ICU then discharged from hospital.
Then after while (a few days to week), nanghina at namatay din.
Senior citizen.
There is a reason we this a "Novel" coronavirus. It is new and we know very little about its effect.
is "capable of ECMO" to be equated with "ECMO actually performed" ?
it would seem,
only a handful of hospitals are capable of charging for "critical pneumonia" , with the others limited to "severe pneumonia" only... whether the patient perishes or survives...
personally, this seems... not right.

Delta variant surge...

Israel Prepares To Reinstate Mask Mandate As Delta Variant Drives New Covid Surge
Pfizer vaccine breakthrough infections.
While infections are low, especially compared to Israel’s peak of over 10,000 cases a day in January, the new outbreaks have clustered in children and in people who have already been vaccinated, prompting a renewed vaccination drive in children and the renewed prospect of quarantines for anybody exposed to the disease, even if they have been immunized.
As many as 50% of Israel’s new cases are among vaccinated people, officials said, though there is not yet enough data to draw any conclusions on how effective the vaccines are against the Delta variant, Alroy-Preis said.
Israel is one of the most vaccinated countries in the world, immunizing 57% of the population with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
Israel Says up to 50% of Delta-Variant Cases Are in Vaccinated People
Although Infections among vaccinated people have alarmed Israelis, the infections appear to be milder than they are in unvaccinated people.
Of all the coronavirus variants, the Delta variant could pose the greatest risk to vaccinated people. Research suggests it's better able to break through in people who've had only one dose of two-dose vaccines, such as those from Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
On Monday, Mike Ryan, the executive director of the World Health Organization's health-emergencies program, said the Delta variant could "be more lethal because it's more efficient in the way it transmits between humans."
Two doses of the vaccines appear to be protective against Delta.
An analysis by UK health officials found that two doses of Pfizer's vaccine were 88% effective against Delta while a single shot was 33% effective. That's compared with 95% efficacy against the original strain, or 52% after one shot.
But no vaccine is 100% effective, and so-called breakthrough cases are still possible.
With other variants, breakthrough infections were mostly mild.
In the UK, where the Delta variant makes up more than 90% of cases, 26 of 73 total deaths associated with the Delta variant were among people who had been fully vaccinated, The Telegraph reported this week.
