Vista just needs 512 MB but for those using onboard graphics (instead of seperate sound cards), then 1 GB is needed (lalo na sa mga Intel GMA 950 users).

On other news, alam ko that Intel was supposed to release their GMA X3000 video solution later this year. Now that alone appears to have more potential as it fixes the numerous flaws that GMA 950 had.

So in order to get the best video from Vista, it's either you use Intel GMA X3000 or an ATI or Nvidia video card (with DX10)

yung X3000 will come out with the Centrino Pro platform codenamed "Santa Rosa" that will pair a Core 2 Duo Socket T to a 965 chipset with X3000 integrated and a Draft N Wireless.. Intel dropped 3G/HSPDA kaya sayang... the platform is not worth it...

For desktops, hi-end 965 ang may X3000 and they are available now.

I wonder how good the X3000 will be compared to ATI and nVidia chipsets? It'll be awesome if Intel can at least approach the performance of the middle-tier chipsets of both companies.

Nope. That doesn't include all the system and other files scattered outside the Windows directory.

I imagine what you're thinking of may work with MS-DOS and Mac OS9 (folder only) or maybe the whole hard drive if it's a virgin install of Windows.

If you mean the dvd platter, Vista is around 3.2GB. That's the RC1 I'm using until June when it expires.

Minimum requirements upon installation is 15Gb. Windows folder between 7 to 8Gb. Hay laking bloatware ng Vista... Dati Windows 95 - 50Mb, Windows XP - 1Gb, ngayon 7Gb na...

I've bought an Acer PC (C2D & 1.8GHz, 1GB) last December. They offered a promo for the buyer for a free upgrade to Vista. The software is free, I just have to shell out 20USD for shipping (buti hindi napag-tripan ng Customs).

I've upgraded my PC to Vista a couple of weeks now. I've run into some occasional flaws, due to sofware incompatibilities, but I can tolerate it.

My first major disappointment is the loss of the Fax Console. Balak ko sanang i-set ang PC into fax-recieve mode when I found out its fax function is missing. Checking user's gripes in the internet, MS deliberately removed this function on Home edition variants (mine is Home Premium). Bad trip!

Stinks if you depend on a telephone line/faxes for sending documents. You can try WinfaxLite. It might still work with Vista.

Yup this is only available in Business... So your only option is to get freeware, pirated, 3rd party software, or.... Vista Ultimate! ahehehehehe

Delrina WinFax Lite installed just fine in Vista. Of course, I don't have a modem and all my COM ports are turned off. But, it installed fine and it's freeware.

Have you tried using XP drivers on the capture card? I have a Hauppage WinTV PCI (1998) that has no Vista driver. But, the XP drivers worked just fine. The same went for my network card. For my old Realtek sound, there was no Vista driver on disc. But, running Software Update yielded basic Realtek sound drivers.

Software..... If a reinstall doesn't work, then you'll just have to wait until the software company posts updates/patches.
