ZTE is included pala sa ban hehehe. bye bye ZTE and Huawei 5g
Nah, Globe is still sticking with Huawei for PH's 5G network.
But it seems, the US is treating Huawei, citing "Security Concerns", the same way they treated Iraq, then citing them having "WMDs".
Here's the flip side of this Huawei situation. It's actually is a good watch... I leave this to let you draw your own conclusions.
Punch-hole displays are not for me, masyadong mababa pagkalagay sa camera so if you 'hide' the camera hole may malaking forehead sa taas. Plus medyo malakas daw mag init Exynos variant.
Yung Pixel 2XL din ang bilis mag burn ng OLED panel vs Samsung, tapos yung 3A may build quality issues naman.

Well actually, a situation of this magnitude does need an explanation.
One explanation is, Trump is trying to play hardball and he's using Huawei as a bargaining chip for the trade deal negotiations.
And that 10/10 narcissist of a president just admitted it....
If Huawei is indeed a security risk, why would Uncle Sam say, in effect: "Ok, Huawei, we'll drop the ban as soon as you agree to our trade terms."? If it's a security risk, trade war or not, it should be banned.
So no, I now believe that the ban was not based on actual evidence. Rather, Huawei is being used as a pawn in politics.
Australia warned the US concerning Huawei's 5G technology ...
Hobbling Huawei: Inside the U.S. war on China’s tech giant
Why Australia is prepared to ban Huawei from its 5G network while the UK and Germany aren't - China power - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
From the same article you posted:
It’s a gambit move.Intelligence officials say allowing Huawei to participate in the countries' 5G mobile networks would create national security risks.
But Professor Williams said there were suspicions that US officials and electronics business leaders publicly expressed security concerns without supporting evidence, in order to give American companies a competitive edge.
"Australia and New Zealand are always quick to fall into line with the US when it comes to publicly expressing US security concerns because they want to be seen as close reliable allies," he said.

hmmm, as of now, there are only 5 companies supplying 5G Hardware.
Huawei, ZTE - both Chinese
Samsung
Nokia - Finland
Ericsson - Swedish
Nabasa ko na Chinese 5G hardware (for telcos) are 25% cheaper than the competition...
I would prefer Globe and Smart to use Chinese hardware tapos yung matitipid nila will be used to enable 5G sa provinces.
Kesa using the safe/secure hardware tapos Metro Manila/Cebu/Davao lang may 5G.
Telco's will deploy 5G when the consumers have 5G enabled devices already. That would be the general rule for other areas not considered metro cities or mega cities which is their showcase areas where they need to have the latest tech just for bragging rights. Iilan pa lang kasi meron 5g phones so sayang investment if wala naman talaga gagamit. Matatagalan pa talaga roll-out sa other areas niyan even if chinese hardware are cheap.
yes... walang "duplicate apps" (big plus for Asus)
pero titigil updates nila after 18 months
1 major android update... tapos 18 months security.
Android One gets 2 major updates + 3 years security.
e.g. Xiaomi A2 was released with Android 8, presently running on 9 and will get Q
A1 was released with 7 presently running 9
The way it usually works is the opposite.... deploy 5G telco equipment to drive the users to upgrade to 5G phones.
Wasn't that a selling point for smartphones way back? When LTE towers started to pop up in Metro Manila, everybody was stumbling to buy a 4G/LTE phone.
I know I did. During the switch to 4G/LTE, I ditched my HTC Desire Z (3G) and ponied up for a Sony Xperia Z (4G).
Yes. Agree on this one. Telco's will drive the move forward to 5g.
In some cases, (not in the PH), old technology (2g) is being phased out since maintenance of 3 or more networks will become cumbersome. Growth will always be driven by the telco since they handle the infra.
Other things to consider, 5g equipments might have been already proccured by the local telco companies as part of capex. So unless there is a ban in Huawei transmission equipments here in the PH, 5g will be deployed.
Hey, this might be the first time where we will be first not US. Heheh

I heard 5G antennas have a shorter range to push the bandwidths promised vs 4g. Hence, this can be deployed in areas where there are a lot of people and infra is well developed. Not so much in the provinces where aread of development are few and far between.

I doubt that they will wait. It's just good business sense to prioritize.... densely populated cities and areas first and fan out to remote and rural areas. As a result, as of late 2018, Globe claims that nearly 95% of their cell sites nationwide are 4G/LTE.
For the most part, the delays may also be due to permits being stonewalled or falling into the cracks of bureaucracy and red tape. Not the least reason of which are the NPA or some other factions still demanding revolutionary tax for businesses (or cell towers) if it's within the territories they have control over.
