I have used resource intensive games like NBA 2k17, Real Racing 3 and Asphalt 8 without lag or problems. I haven't disabled background programs or optimized my phone. The S8+ kicks ass!

How many android virus have you heard? How many android malware are there? And being hacked by wifi access point isn't a virus. So anti virus has no use for public wifi. If you want security on public wifi, use a decent VPN. And accessing your bank account on a public wifi is stupid. Also Google has pretty much doing a good job of keeping Google Play clean. The only danger is if you install apps from unknown sources.

May 10th, 2017 10:35 AM #3023Suit yourself. If this is a deal breaker for you then by all means cancel your order. Im just saying id rather err on the side of safety. This device has more than enough power and battery optimizations to offset antivirus background processes.
These antivirus software now can tell you if the site you are accessing is compromised. It wont prevent you from latching onto a compromised access point but it can warn you before you make the mistake of entering your credentials into these sites.

May 10th, 2017 08:16 PM #3030Really now? Here's the thing.....hundreds of thousands of home routers have been hacked. Most people dont even know it. The hackers place 2 DNS servers in the settings. The primary one is the fake one which works well for most sites but for financial ones routes you to their fake phishing pages. The 2nd backup DNS is a valid and real one. The hackers then randomly schedule shut downs of the fake primary DNS so the users arent aware. When they browse, everything seems normal because you will be using the valid clean backup DNS. But they catch a lot unawRes when the fake one is turned on and the unsuspecting victim is duped into entering info in the fake website via the fake primary DNS.
What does this have to do with anti virus on your phone? Simple....when the fake dns routes you to the phishing site....the anti virus will catch it and warn them.
Hope this clear things up for you. But pls feel free to uninstall your antivirus software on your phone.
And thats just one attack vector anti virus software helps mitigate against.

It's looking a lot like a certain cruiser with that color scheme.
