Anyone has any first-hand experience with the Samsung J7 Pro? Particularly, are there any inherent problems I should be worried about?

It's for my kid.... replacing his hand-me-down Sony Xperia Z3 Dual.

Nakahawak lang ako ng dummy phone, definitely feels upmarket and high quality. Though afaik it's still using last year's processor.

Magandang alternative din siguro Xiaomi mi A1, Snapdragon 625, stock Android, dual camera, etc for 13-15K.

Isa pa yung Xperia XA1 Plus, zero side bezels, MTK Helio P20, fingerprint scanner vs XA1, 23MP flagship grade camera.

Lahat sila nga pala naka 5.5 inch FHD display.

    Thanks for the choices.

How about the availability of aftermarket accessories like cases, screen protectors, etc.? That's my main issue with my old Xperia phones.... (Z and Z3 Dual), I had to order abroad pa for the cases I want. Lately na lang naging available thru some stores and Lazada.

For the J7 Pro, I was originally intending to get it with a plan (Globe's ThePLAN 599). It's just going to be P1k (all-in) for 24 months. I'm leaning towards the J7 Pro because of the sAMOLED display along with other similarities with the S8. I already have an S8+ so my natural impulse is to get the mid-range version for my son. I'm sort of hooked na sa Samsung 'world'.

Baligtad naman tayo sir hehe. Galing ako sa Galaxy, but got hooked with the Sony ecosystem.

Ako, most of my cases galing sa Aliexpress, while limited nga accessories ng Xperia, yung mga well known brands like Spigen/Ringke meron naman sila.

Since you're getting it from Globe, how about previous generation flagships na inooffer nila? IMO mas ok pa din overall performance nila.

Well suited for me ang midrange lang.

Too late for me. :D I already have an S8+.

I just want a cheaper phone for my kid that will not let him down in terms of 'cool' factor and, of course, gaming performance.

How about the Moto Z Play (2016)? It's about the same or slightly cheaper than the J7 but I think it should do better in games. Also has an sAMOLED and available with a plan. They're also throwing in a JBL Superboost Moto Mod as a bundle.

The camera should be better than the J7 pro since it falls under the upper midrange category. With Snapdragon 625, it should also have the upper hand in terms of overall performance, may 4K video pa.

Tbh, noong teaser pa lang yung Z series dati gamit nila yung RAZR flip phone, akala ko ibabalik nila. Yun pala yung MotoMods ang highlight niya. Hindi nga lang din masyado sumikat prolly because of limited availability and pricing.

That's one of my main concerns. One of the hand-me-downs sa anak ko eh note 4, although it's a 3 years old phone I was still able to buy a casing and a new battery.

So Globe is selling the Note 8 at plan 2699 with 8GB net, unli text to all and unli calls to Globe. So total cashout in 2 years is 65k, minus the residual value of my current Note 5 of around 13k, then net cashout is 52k.

In comparison, if I keep my current plan 799 with the same benefits, I spend 19k in 2 years.

Net, I have to shell out 33k to upgrade to a Note 8. Hmm, doesn't to be worth it just for the dual-lens camera and faster processor.

If you separate the value of the phone from the plan. It's like you are paying 1.9k a month for the phone. For 24 months that's 45.6k for the phone. Not bad since 50k ang worth ng unlocked phone.

It's not just 45k because the exact same plan is cheaper without a phone. Plan 999 and 1499 are the same. So that's an extra 12k difference on top of the 45k so it comes out more expensive.

Samsungs have awful resale value so I'll just wait for secondhand units to drop in the 30k range. Or wait for the S9 which might have what I want (dual camera, faster processor, dual sim) for a cheaper price.

Ok na ako sana sa S7edge ko if not for the battery problem that I encountered, have to bring it twice sa service center to have it fixed, I'm still using it but as a back up phone, my main phone now us the Oneplus 5 and very happy with it.

Minimalist kumbaga, though I heard magpapalit na sila ng design language next year. Baka pati UI babaguhin na din. ☺

I like my homescreen clean and simple, hindi din masyadong makulay yung icons.

if you mean, yung may apps ng windows, meron yata. yung windows phone.
ewan na lang if you can live with that small keyboard that the phone has.

The legitimacy of this offer is questionable but this is probably the unit or the type of device you should research on. HP Elite X3 (64GB, Black) with Free Desk Dock | Lazada PH

It's a Win10 smartphone that comes with a dock that allows it to function like a desktop by connecting an external monitor, keyboard and mouse, including a wired LAN, if necessary.
