I'm thinking of buying my grade school son a Samsung J7 Prime. Is model worth the price at 12K?

    An alternative is Oppo F1s.

I got the j7 prime and using it now.. i came from a zenfone 2. The phone has good built quality, long battery life. Zenfone2 had better performance though but overall fairly identical

Both the J7 Prime and the Huawei Honor 6X/GR5 2017 are better than the F1s IMO, even with the upgraded model (4GB RAM/64 GB ROM).

Sana ang inimprove yung chipset at screen resolution. Since nasanay na sa 400++, nakukulangan ako sa 720p resolution sa 5.5 inch screen ng F1s.

i find it, too high-end for a grade schooler.
baka lang nakawin ng bad guy.

why not a cheaper, but not really a stripped down model?

if you are going for f1s, look for the upgrade version. it has 4gb ram and 64gb memory.

We decided to go for the Samsung for higher confidence in terms of build quality and aftersales service support *fingers crossed*

I looked at Huawei but must admit that the last Huaweis we used we got disappointed with the software support

Its technically a low-midrange phone with its specs. Medyo overpriced lang kasi Samsung brand.

My son goes to school at Pisay and admittedly I noticed that a number of his classmates use mobile technology softwares and apps already. So I'm thinking my son will use his phone heavily also

Nakita ko nga since I also read about this upgrade here at tsikot. We looked at the F1s pero backed out because we're not sure about the support service of Oppo...

Let him use his stipend to buy his phone. 😂

When I was in high school I was so irresponsible with my stipend - new phone every 3 months, Starbucks here and there, date every week. If I learned to manage my finances better at the time, I would've been able to save up for more substantial things.

But of course, that's the point of childhood, you do stupid stuff and you learn from them...

Yup,- they do a lot of things with their phones.

So, buy him what he needs and what he deserves.

Our oldest kid is using a Huawei P9 and he is satisfied with it....

He's doing a lot of things on the phone, too.

And has locked-out a couple of phones earlier to never-never-land....

Galit ng kaunti,- pagamit ng lumang (extra) phone sa baha for a couple of weeks, - pero bili na lang ulit ng bago....

My kid is a suuuppper miser, and saves every penny. Ang laki na nga ng savings nun. We asked him to chip in sana for his new smartphone, ang sagot nya he'd rather use his backup basic phone. Ang kuripot talaga 😁

I think the J7 Prime are exactly those, something he needs and deserves.

In fairness, Huawei's P series do have better reputation than their lower ends.

I did ask if Samsung still has their extended warranty, wala na daw. Sayang.

Are those schools requiring the students to have their own mobile phones, or is it just for personal use? I don't know any children at that age range and the ones I know only use their phones for entertainment.
