I used to have an E71, as well as a BB 8520, and finally an HTC Chacha. Like you guys, I thought it was more convenient to have a physical keyboard especially when you text a lot.

However, it's quite difficult to text with a QWERTY keyboard while driving since you'll need to use 2 hands. Also, the keys wear out over time which makes them difficult to type with. Plus, the screens are unbearably small if you try to browse the internet with them. The landscape orientation also makes them incompatible with a lot of apps. If you opt for those slide-up QWERTYs, you get a very thick phone. Lastly, these QWERTYs aren't prioritized by phone manufacturers so they tend to have much slower specs.

I thought that shifting to a touchscreen phone will cause a big setback in terms of typing speed/accuracy, but found that this wasn't the case, at least not with the iPhone. With the Android smartphones I tried before (S3, Xperia V, etc), it just wasn't as responsive so I made quite a lot of errors. But with the iPhone it was much easier so I stuck with it.

So overall there's not much of a drawback vs a QWERTY phone in terms of typing speed, but you get a bigger screen, better camera, faster response, more apps, and so on. Well worth it in terms of overall experience.

yep that's why i do all the heavy lifting w/ my Nexus7 2013. SMS, IM, emails i do on the Droid4. kinda like the dumb-phone + PDA combo back in the day.

onscreen keyboards are fast, but aren't accurate so i'm sticking w/ Droid4 for now. i got a spare so if this one breaks i still have another one LOL. yeah the specs are crap in 2014: android 4.2, 1GB ram, 4" screen but the occasional web browsing is still tolerable. and i really love the GPS (and GLONASS!!!) sensitivity on this thing

ang ganda ng bagong samsung alpha, mukhang iphone

Samsung Made Its Prettiest Phone Yet, But Boy Does It Look Familiar

Samsung consistently pumps out phones with big, beautiful screens, powerful processors, and high-quality cameras. On paper, that seems amazing. These are best-in-class phones. Supercomputers in your pocket.
But for design snoots like me, it's hard to see past all the plastic. Samsung phones may have those gorgeous displays — the best in the world, according to some experts — but they're encased in cheap-feeling, creaky plastic. If the iPhone is a well-designed tool, then Samsung phones are plastic playthings.

Samsung's newest phone, the Galaxy Alpha, is a response to all that design criticism. It's Samsung's first Galaxy phone to incorporate metal — an aluminum band with chamfered edges wrapped around the case.

Oh, and it looks eerily similar to the iPhone 5/5S.

^Probably gives the same feeling as a kid opening a present on Christmas day Maybe that's why some people document/record their unboxing. The equivalent of that for women are unboxing videos of designer handbags.

I am not a fan of these unboxing videos as well. I skip to the review.

If I remember right Xiaomi was a software maker who was into making user interfaces and apps and doing data analytics. They then decided to enter the phone market in China and made a killing by offering really cheap handsets. There seems to be a lot of other aggressive China brands a the moment too like Oppo and Gionee but Oppo seems to be really expensive.
