When trying out digicams, try to test them first hand. Iba rin yung experience handling them, i.e. the tactile feedback of the controls, buttons, etc.
I guess this is why a lot of people also choose Nokia over Ericsson, simple analogy.![]()

I agree with mbeige, kailangan ikaw mismo ang mag-test ng digital camera. And you should set priority at kung saan mo mainly gagamitin ito.
When it comes to video capabilities of digital camera, I haven't seen a digital camera that came close to the quality of video camera. It's because even with high video quality recording, videos taken in digital camera seems flickery not as smooth compared to video camera. Maybe in the coming years, the right technology will come.
In 2006, the selling point of most Japanese digital camera makers was "anti-blur". And this year it will be the combination of "anti-blur" + "auto face detection". This auto face detection is first introduced by FujiFilm and Nikon, but FujiFilm brought this technology to the next level.
video capability of current Canon models are very good, very clear and bright. but problem is only 8+mins per 1GB haha useless
Canon din sana bibilhin ko if not for the short video (non mpeg4) at ang price medyo mahal. So I decided to buy the Casio Exilim EX-Z700 at first, tapos ni-return ko din and I bought the Exilim EX-S770 a lot thinner compared to the EX-Z700 at may mpeg4 video, I also bought 2gig SD card, I can actually shoot video for 2hrs and 10 min. Picture quality are ok at best during night and low light but di ko pa na try during the day. The video is where I'm actually impressed sobrang linaw nga at par sa JVC miniDV ko if not better. One thing funny I've noticed is when taking video of subjects, they tend to pause since akala nila I'm taking pictures instead of video hehehe.
just stick for the branded ones, just like phones they have oems but resale value would be low. Read reviews on the internet. Check the price sa mall and go to Camera shops in Hidalgo street in quiapo, you will see the price difference, they also accept card payments
I'm also in the market for a new digital camera to replace my venerable Nikon Coolpix 995.
While visiting my cousin in Japan, he showed me his Sony digital camera which is this one:
Sony Cyber-shotŪ DSC-H9 Digital Camera
What got me interested was the ability to zoom in and out while in movie mode and the low-light capabilities. Just wondering if there are other (lower-cost) brands just as good or better.
Being a PSP owner, I also have several 4gb and 8gb Memory Stick Pro Duo cards already. So, I felt compelled to go with a Sony digicam this time.
Whew! Digital SLRs....- those stuffs are the 'in-thing' these days....
Seven of my Managers/Engineers now have these cameras of various brands... And I tell you, during our Christmas Party last week, all of the digicams owned by our co-employees from the other departments pale in comparison with their cameras.... Parang Camera Club ang kanilang grupo....
Ako,- I still have my trustworthy Fuji FinePix F20....

went around to canvas for digital cameras lately. honestly, hindi pa rin ako bilib sa canon ixus. the powershots are better and i would recommend the Canon Powershot A570 or the A720 if you want Manual features. For Sony, the DSC-W55 performs even better than the W80 even with all the added features of the W80.
normally, you will need the image stabilization or anti-blur feature if you have a camera that has more than 3x optical zoom.
sa DSLR, i think nikon's d40 and d40x are very good. you can get this in quiapo for 23k to 29k.
iba talaga dslr. reaction time is so much faster and image clarity is usually superior. they're just so big that it's hard to go around unless you have decided to be an official photographer for the occasion.
That's what I thought too. That Sony only costs $430. My Nikon Coolpix 995 cost over $500 when I bought it (it was >$700 the year prior). Man, you can get a lot of camera for less money these days.
But, I want to make sure I've got my bases covered before I spring for that Sony.
Yup... you're getting a lot of camera for your money these days. I remember buying a Casio 5.0MP digicam for around P20K+ a few years back. The Pentax DSLR that I just bought a month ago costed just a little bit more.
Try to consider also the Canon S5iS... a lot of camera enthusiasts are recommending this:

Heck, my Powershot S40 costs 30K back in 2000 hehehe, kapresyo lang ng DSLR ko with all my accessories hehe
You may have gotten a unit that was affected by the recall as well...
dual screen para pang selfie then may android apps na para matransfer sa phone or what gadgets you have, via wifi.
price niya is 5,500php. chipipay lang kahit masira.
so far so good for the price at handy kesa sa tablet o camphone.
Yung bagong Canon powershot
it cost around 40k
kaya niya mga 3km yata
sana meron na sa Philippines
Matindi nga zoom, bulok naman image quality. No sense shelling out too much cash for a digicam when for the same money you can get an SLR or a mirrorless.
Cheapest good quality option for me would be a mirrorless cam and a 55-250mm zoom, plus the 18-55 kit lens. That would be around 25-30k for the cam plus those 2 lenses.
