sobrang linaw ba ng video capture ng casio digicams using mp4? malinaw pa rin ba if i burn it to DVD? how does mp4 compare with video cams using miniDV?

eto lang kasi ang wala sa canon, which i find very useful if talagang malinaw ang video quality. and casio doesn't have image stabilization which helps a lot in low light shooting.
MiniDV captures at 720x480. If you intend to do a lot of video, stick with a dedicated camcorder, be it MiniDV or one of those new ones with flash memory storage. The built-in video of digital cameras are best for short clips.

MiniDV with my 4-yr old JVC DVL510U:

This was from one of the very first avi-capable digital camera (not sure what it was). It's quite old (older than above) with a native res of 320x240 (the video is expanded under Windows Media Center). Newer ones have higher res of 640x480 or better:

Compare both to 8mm from 1995:

The digital camera video should be quite good. But, they are prone to having jerky frame rates at higher resolutions.

well with canon you get only 8mins w/ a 1GB card so it's really quite useless...

8 min/gb is still better than MiniDV's 60 min/12 gb (5 min/gb). And the quality of that Canon is much better than MiniDV. How's the frame rate and sound? Hmmm. I think it'll be time for me to upgrade soon.

well that's tape so you really can't compare it to flash...

the point of comparison is the casio's 1 hour per GB, that's at 640x480x30fps

    here's the sound quality

went to Mayers last tuesday and bought the Sony T50 instead. out of stock kasi yung Canon 850IS. na attract kasi ako sa touchscreen ng T50

the T50 is cheaper by 1K. mali yung na post na price ng Canon 850IS dito (16.5), the price is actually 19.5K.

mura din memory stick sa Mayers. i got the 1GB high speed (80mbps) memstrick pro duo for only 1K.

sa mga shots na nakatingin yung subject, hindi naman nag-redeye as long as naka-ON ang red-eye reduction. pag hindi nakatingin, nagreredeye sya.

mabilis naman yung touchscreen. nakaka aliw din yung paint feature nya. and ok din yung 3:2 aspect ratio nya when shooting. no need to crop the picture when printing in 4x6.

problema ata yan sa sony na maliit ang flash assembly.. tapos redish na yung tao pag 3 meters away with flash, red eye and noisy bacground...

^^^sir boybi, redish na ba tao sayo mga 2.5m using flash?

i have experienced/experimented this with my p200 and my old W1, ang W1 maganda kuha kasi malaki konti sa p200 flash assembly...

AFAIK and experienced, slim type or pocketable digicam are good with well lighted condition, but when in dark/night mode, object must be 1 meter to 2.5 meter lang kaya ng flash..

2.5m..... Is there a setting to change the effective range of the flash? Or is that pretty much it. I can make heads and tails of most settings in my old Nikon Coolpix 995. But, I can't figure out where the settings to change the flash range is.

After going through 10 or so digicams over the years I've learned not to read reviews. They only try to sell you the cam, they don't point out the bad things Most notorious is steves-digicams. Best reviews from dcresource.com and dpreview.com.

Always check pbase camera database for sample shots.

I wonder why Sony insists on putting the flash so close to the lens, it's so stupid, you get tons of red eye. Here's how it should be done in a folded lens design w/ the flash far away from the lens:

Here's another sample from the T50:

ang labo din ng Sony. it has already acquired Minolta and have used its folded lens design in the T50 and yet hindi inadapt yung flash distance from the lens.
