DSLR? Only the D40 kit would fit that budget... Unless you're willing to go 2nd hand.

Olympus E330/500 are good choices as well, killer kit lenses. But value wise, the D40 is hard to beat.

But if you'll just use a DSLR as a regular point and shoot cam, a DSLR would be a waste of space and money.
