haha what i meant by "refuses to run Warcraft 3" is that the damn thing crashes with a "cx0000005" fatal error after a few seconds/minutes into the game. freelancer craps out every time too, sa intro cut scene palang!! damn! at least surfing the net, photoshop, MS office, and other mundane stuff all work without a hitch
i tried a fresh install of WinXP already, tried moving the RAM sticks around on the mobo, tried my brother's RAM stick, made a dozen calls to the Vatican, downloaded the latest and hugest sound and video drivers and the latest VIA 4-in-1, belted out a few cuss words, thoroughly rebuilt the innards of my PC, WALA!!! aaargh!
thing is, i was able to play Warcraft 3, completed the RoC campaign in fact, and anything else before with the exact same setup (same Windows installation in fact)...
and to top it all off, my audio is acting up, the volume fluctuates wildly all of a sudden... DAMN talk about annoying!
kaya ayun, sledgehammer approach to troubleshooting -- just replace the damn thing top to bottom hehehehe :D kaya kelangan ko mag-upgrade na ASAP, no time to wait for A64 hehe

Athlons are officially rated at 85 C max operating temp, some models are rated up to 90 C.
Pentium 4s are rated to similar levels if im not mistaken.
as for ideal motherboard-reported operating temperatures, below 40 C is good, hanggang mga 50 C okay pa yan. note that Athlon motherboards (particularly older ones) usually under-report cpu temperatures.
