Why not try using AVG? So far I have been using it for the last three weeks on my netbook running Win7 and no issues have happened yet.

What is your existing OS? XP or Vista? ... if you are running Vista, you can use Win7's upgrade option which keeps all your existing settings, etc.

Windows 7 is really fast. I don't know but I find it even faster than XP. Even with the specs of my mom's laptop, na pang-minimum Vista lang ata to. Naka-Aero sya since the fresh install, I turned it off and mas mabilis lang ng konti

i find AVG not that powerful. i was using that before, pero nung tumagal, may ilang virus na hindi kayang i-detect ng AVG kahit na updated na siya. so from there, i switched to NOD32 then kaspersky then to avast

Avast had its own problems... or at least in the past. I used to have either Avast or AVG installed when I used to own my PC rental shop.

I have a PC running on Win7U at home.

    Specs: (mini-ITX motherboard)
    Intel Atom 1.6ghz N330 dualcore
    2gb ram
    Intel 945 graphic chipset
    Seagate 80gb IDE HDD (7200rpm)
    MS Windows 7 Ultimate

So far, it's running smooth and fast. Even with Aero turned on as well as all the visual enhancements, very minimal slow down is detected.

BTW, I installed all the proper drivers for the motherboard, etc. and it did make a difference in the "Windows Experience" rating.

I would suggest for you to check and download all the Windows 7 drivers for all the devices you have including the motherboard, graphics card, network adapters, sound, etc and copy them on a USB flash drive, ready for use. That way, the installation would be smoother than having to try installing it in a half-working system.

I stopped using AVG when AVG 8 came out. Big piece of bloatware. Chose between Avast and Avira. Eventually ended up using Avast even in the computers I fix. But ever since Avira 9 came out, I prefer it over Avast 4. It's less cluttered, requires less user interaction, better detection.

But if you have a licensed Windows copy, I'd still recommend MSE. Very light :D

Using NOD32 on my laptop and BitDefender '10 on my desktop, both on Win 7. This Celeron with less than 1gb RAM won't handle BD. NOD32 on the other hand is very light, but not as powerful as BD. Only good for internet malware, not for USB-based trojans and worms. But I have USB Disk Security for that on both PCs.

Hahaha totoo talaga yan dude! Windows7 took a huge step. What a great improvement. Think of Vista in terms of speed and Vista for aesthetics.

Imagine, eto laptop gamit ko only had the minimum requirements. Pero with Aero on it's like XP. Aero off, I don't know maybe parang Super tweaked XP! Hahaha Photoshop runs faster and smoother without Aero on, with the minimum setup. What more kung maxed out ang memory and good pa ang processor?

Sa antivirus, I still use Avira. Sa XP, I can't run Photoshop while naka-load ang Facebook Zynga Poker and Yahoo Messenger. Ngayon pwede na all 3 together, plus VLC Media Player

There are still some problems with 7, typically with certain softwares/drivers not running properly even under XP compatibility mode.

For me, its not yet a problem because only my personal netbook is running Win7 and I still have my desktop PCs at home and in the office which runs XP.

But it is an inconvience because I cannot print from my netbook because there is no Win7 compatible drivers for the HP laser printer I have at home and office (or at least since I last checked in late November 2009).

What is the printer model? Maybe we can find something. HP usually follows up with drivers not too long after release of a new OS.

Vista has been out for 2 years now. Vista and Win 7 drivers are usually interchangable.
