This is how it is here in our country, problem arises, problem has to be addressed, but lacks funds, we try to improvise, but is not acceptable to all, small minority has a better idea, problem solving stalls because of such issue. Problem will not be tackled until solution is found to satisfy everyone (which never happens) problem will remain and spawn bigger problems. The cycle continues.

One shot with a 12 gauge shotgun to the head of the dog at close range will give instant death. Cost? Probably less than 20 pesos for the ammo, not sure.

Shooting with a firearm is also included in the CAW Revised Rules and Regulations on the euthanasia of animals.

Although this method is also being questioned by animal advocates, for me this is relatively more humane than tambucho gassing.

+1 on this. Pero wag naman shotgun. Messy yun. a .38 caliber in the temple is good enough. Maski na paltik at point blank. Eh magkano yun? baka 5 petot per bala lang eh.

Siguro para mas maka tipid, pagtabi tabihin yung mga aso lets say 5 dogs, tapos mag 357 man lang, one shot dali yung 5. Kaso yung effort to bury them tsaka space kung saan ililibing. I'd still go for feeding them to zoo animals.

UPDATE: Our bomb-sniffing teams in the forces are recruiting stray dogs for bomb and drugs sniffing purposes, instead of acquiring more K9's.

Saw this in GMA last weekend. Just thought people should know.

On a personal note, I think finding a purpose for them is better than finding ways to kill them.

This is commendable. However, sa sobrang dami ng aspin, baka di makakuha ng trabaho yun mga iba, katulad ng nurses natin.

And it usually takes a specific breed to be good sniffer dog. Probably because mas acute ang sensory organs of that breed. Baka kako manhid na smelling senses ng aspin sa kaka-kalkal ng basura eh.

Well based from what I saw, literal na askal lang talaga kinuha e. Then may vet pa nga sila to make the dog healthy then ayun, start na sa training et al. Pinapakitaan muna sila ng actions from K9 then from scratch tuturuan na sila. Real good stuff.

Pero yep, yun nga lang di lahat ng askal malamang eh makukuha. But it's a good step forward and as you mentioned, commendable at that.
