I think that feeding the stray dogs to the zoo is a good alternative but do it in a discreet manner. That is better than them rotting in some landfill.

imagine those poor dogs trying desperately to breathe.
they're animals, yes. but they also want to live. i don't think they want to die because they have no masters.
sad thing that we don't have the proper means to end their miserable lives. i've personally had to put down (well, the vet did) 4 of my 5 dogs during a distemper outbreak couple years ago... the drug used to kill them was injected, dog fell asleep, heart stopped a second or two later. and it's done. very humane.
but during their sickness, i saw my dogs struggling to get up to greet me every morning and evening. i would hand feed them bits of pork and eggs and they would struggle to eat, not because they want to, but because they want to please me and maybe they want to recover and live. but they never will. so i had to put them down to end their suffering.
i mentioned my experience to illustrate the loyalty of these animals. while they don't feel "love" in a human way, i guess they feel some sort of equivalent for people who take care of them. the best we can do is to go about being gentle to them, even when we're about to take their lives.
animals are incapable of wanton cruelty, only humans.
i'm about to cry. makapag-kape na nga lang muna.

I think it is more cruel to just leave stray dogs and cats wandering about, digging into garbage, maybe spreading diseases in the process, and sometimes ran over by cars.
Di naman siguro masakit yung gassing. Siyempre natataranta lang yung mga aso pag dinadala sa loob ng metal box. pero di naman siguro nasasaktan yun.

Bro, how can you say na hindi masakit yung gassing? Sure it's better than giving it to the zoo and feeding it to lions, but can you imagine not being able to breathe because of the gas? Being suffocated like that? Plus, while being suffocated, the dogs scratch each other tearing it's skin apart.
I'm all for "putting to sleep" the stray dogs, but please do it in a humane way. And yeah, PAWS should at least propose an alternative that's not too expensive.

a few months ago, i brought my lab to the vet because he wasn't eating and is having a hard time standing. the vet said, given the symptoms, he could have distemper. i observed for a couple of days, and voila! change of diet is all that he needed.

Ganda sana ng sinuggest na alternative ng paws, yung pala sa Gobyerno din ipapasa ang responsibilidad sa pag papagawa o pag source out ng resources.
What is hard to understand about limited budget? Hindi din kaya naisip ng nasa PAWS na kaya ginagawa yun e walang pera?
They suggested Phenobarb but it will increase the cost from 50 to 150 pesos per dog. Dapat mangalap na ang PAWS ng funds to donate to the government agency tasks to eliminate stray dogs. So each and every dog can die in their standards of "humane" way.

nagmamagaling nanaman yan PAWS, eh di gawin sana nila kunin nila lahat ng stray dogs ampunin nila sila magpakain lahat para magsara na rin sila.
