Oil complex settles down on US, China, European economic woes - Oil | Platts News Article & Story
if it wasnt for Iran oil prices would have fallen much lowerThe petroleum complex settling lower Monday after a slew of poor macroeconomic data, including contracting manufacturing figures from the US, China and the EU.
NYMEX August crude futures declined $1.21 to settle at $83.75/barrel, after dropping as low as $82.10/b. ICE August Brent settled 46 cents lower at $97.34/b.
weak economic data put downside pressure on oil while Iran provided support
WTI fell more than Brent coz North American crude won't be affected by Strait of Hormuz blockade
if Middle East oil can't get thru the strait demand for North Sea crude will increase

Algeria joins call by Opec hawks for oil price action - The National
"If the deterioration of the oil market reaches a certain point, the group will be holding an extraordinary meeting to study ways and means to correct this imbalance," Youcef Yousfi, the Algerian oil minister, was quoted as saying by APS, Algeria's official news agency. "There are currently 2 million barrels per day [bpd] extra oil on the market from a year ago."
how it can it be imbalance? oil has been expensive for so many months, then it's also natural for oil to be cheaper in the same number of months.Originally Posted by uls

Kung di nga LNG nagkagyera sa middle east and the domino removal of dictators last year pa bumaba ang oil. Tingen ko they're out of options on how to artificially raise oil prices.
what we need is a war, a full blown war, a purging event para mag-balance coz if oil continues to lower, nakow yan ang delikado talaga. kaya nga sinasabi ko dito lagi lock the price of oil at 3 years interval to ensure Hindi masira ang momentum ng mga economies. Go ahead make it more expensive, people will adjust naman, back in 2007, everybody thought gasoline at sub P60 price level will be a catalyst for apocalyptic event pero nowadays parang normal Lang ang P 50+ na fuel.
di naman duration ang imbalance na sinasabihow it can it be imbalance? oil has been expensive for so many months, then it's also natural for oil to be cheaper in the same number of months.
the imbalance Algeria is referring to is Saudi Arabia producing 2 million barrels per day more than needed

if Iran wants maximum impact they have to close the Strait of Hormuz now before a pipeline that bypasses the strait becomes operational
