Oil companies raise prices anew

Barely have Filipinos recovered from last week's heavy rain and floods when oil companies raised Tuesday the prices of their fuel products.
At 6 a.m. Tuesday, at least two companies—Shell and Total—raised prices of regular and unleaded gas, diesel, and kerosene, radio dzBB reported.
The report said Shell and Total both raised prices by:
P1.80 per liter for unleaded and premium gas
P1.50 per liter for diesel
P1.70 per liter for regular gas
Shell also raised prices of kerosene by P1.70 per liter, the dzBB report said.
However, both companies stressed the price hike will be effective in areas not under a state of calamity.
Many oil companies last week had said they would freeze prices in areas under a state of calamity due to the rain and floods, which left more than 90 people dead.
Meanwhile, the Department of Energy said it is deploying teams to inspect retailers of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to check on prices and supply.
The DOE teams will also make sure the LPG tanks are complaint with safety standards, the dzBB report added. –KG, GMA News
