Kung ganun pala that it will take several generations, Naisip ko lang naman. Hindi ba pwede ipa-manage muna sa foreigners ang pilipinas then after 100 years or so na maayos na ang bansa, na meron ng maayos na sistema ng governance and hindi na pangdurugas and pangungurakot ang nasa isip ng bawat pilipino eh i-turn over sa bagong generation ang pamamahala ng bansa.

I fully agree with your observations sir. History has always proven that the pre spanish period filipinos were HONEST, WITH INTEGRITY AND OBSERVED AN HONOR SYSTEM. But after western intervention got into the culture (most notably the spanish), that spelled the quick extinction of the pre spanish period culture.

It took Spain 400 years to colonize this country, just imagine how long it would take us to unlearn what we have been used to...

it is possible only if a country becomes a permanent colony, territory, or a modern commonwealth

which eventually will strive to become an autonomous state

majority of the residents (native and immigrants) of the islands like guam, puerto rico, hawaii, antigua, australia, bahamas, jamaica, new zealand, french guiana, new caledonia, antartics, pantelleria, etc., support this status so far

forget the middle east. geopolitics of that region is too complex, power shifts on shakeable grounds

Not condoning name calling but in defense of macsd his name calling is limited to those personalities involved, unlike some tsikot members who resort to name calling fellow tsikot member who oppose their views, which is much worse bec. you cant attack another just because you have differing opinions.

The Americans knew we were not ready for independence yet, but the people of that era would rather have a government run like hell by Filipinos. They got their wish, we're being run like hell now.

Look at what's happening in Afghanistan and Iraq... you're trying to impose an external order... but not changing the actual culture of the people. So what happens when you remove that external order? Things just get worse.

With the Philippines, instilling the idea of accountability is the first step. The next step is to institutionalize it and make sure it filters down through the ranks.

The problem is that if you're trying to instill good governance, you have to practice it yourself. Everyone should be accountable, not just the corrupt, but the incompetent.

And you also have to follow the letter of the law. The administration's stance seems to be that as long as their path is righteous, they can be excused for taking shortcuts or resorting to extra-legal means to achieve those goals.

    In that direction lays fascism.

And we all know how that worked out the last time it happened.

    Well said sir niky.

Yung theory ko naman...deep down i think Pinoys have low self esteem, no sense of identity, that's why we have such low standards for how we run our government and how we conduct ourselves as Pinoys. We seem to have more respect for foreign cultures that with our own, maybe that's why we assimilate so well in other cultures/countries, but in the meantime we don't give a crap when the country is being run to the ground. Maybe we don't care because we feel the PH is a lost cause.

People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both.
    -Benjamin Franklin

Do you even realize how much bloodshed it cost for you to have your freedom?

I am thoroughly disgusted that you rather pledge your allegiance to another flag and have the unborn generation against their will do the same just so we could be governed by what you think is an uncorrupt foreign government.
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?
