Aquino open to 2nd term | Inquirer News

Now greed is catching up to ABNOY as part his daan matuwid. If ain;t stupid, the constitution was written to extend the term of the president from 4 to 6 yrs and without re-election primarily stop the greed in power. If Marcos used martial law to extend his stay in office, Abnoy use the excuse "my boss demand for it" for a charter change. And what make's him think it was juan dela cruz clamor except for the lone stupid idea of boy pick-up alone.

Let's say for the purpose of argument, change the constitution extend the term of pres, what if another crook get's into office, then that will provide the crook a longer term in office. This country never moved forward cause the people in power thinks more of how to stay long in office aside from creating dynasties instead of improvements.

Abnoy, request ko lang, do not die in office please at baka si mother pokpok ang pumalit sa iyo.

Meron interview si Prof. Carlos ng UP a few months ago and sinabi nya (something like this) that corruption is embedded deep in the roots of the filipinos and it will take several generations bago mawala ito sa ating kultura. Ang immediate and short term solution is baguhin ang sistemang ginagalawan nya. Meaning change the bureaucracy. Makakaisip pa rin ng paraan mangdugas pero make it more difficult for the individual.

Kung ganun pala that it will take several generations, Naisip ko lang naman. Hindi ba pwede ipa-manage muna sa foreigners ang pilipinas then after 100 years or so na maayos na ang bansa, na meron ng maayos na sistema ng governance and hindi na pangdurugas and pangungurakot ang nasa isip ng bawat pilipino eh i-turn over sa bagong generation ang pamamahala ng bansa.

    Nope.

If you don't let the indigenous population become responsible for their own prosperity and security, then they will never become so.

Look at what's happening in Afghanistan and Iraq... you're trying to impose an external order... but not changing the actual culture of the people. So what happens when you remove that external order? Things just get worse.

With the Philippines, instilling the idea of accountability is the first step. The next step is to institutionalize it and make sure it filters down through the ranks.

The problem is that if you're trying to instill good governance, you have to practice it yourself. Everyone should be accountable, not just the corrupt, but the incompetent.

And you also have to follow the letter of the law. The administration's stance seems to be that as long as their path is righteous, they can be excused for taking shortcuts or resorting to extra-legal means to achieve those goals.

    In that direction lays fascism.

And we all know how that worked out the last time it happened.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

You know bro, this is one point I absolutely agree with you and I fully respect your opinion about the political situations. But if you tone down the name-calling a bit and just focus objectively on the issues, I would respect you more.
