BTT: the 7107 may or may not be good. Maybe some sort of trial/census? outside of the Philippines needs to be done.

MANILA, Philippines - The new Philippine tourism campaign with the slogan, "It's more fun in the Philippines", was well-received during the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Manado, Indonesia this week.

Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr. said the ATF 2012 was the "perfect platform to introduce the campaign to some 1,600 international delegates of buyers and sellers, the NTO (National Tourism Organization) community and media delegates."

The campaign was unveiled during the Philippine-hosted dinner at the Sultanraja Hotel in Manado on Jan. 13, a week after it was launched by the Department of Tourism via social networking sites in the Philippines.

The campaign, Jimenez told ATF delegates, highlights the country's edge against other tourism destinations -- the Filipino people.

“Our strategy is simple: while other countries invite you to observe, Filipinos can promise a more heartfelt and interesting experience. Wherever you go, whatever you do in the country, it’s the Filipinos that will complete your vacation and will make your holiday unforgettable,” noted Jimenez.

A photo used by the Department of Tourism (DOT) as part of its new “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign may have been taken from another country — or so some netizens accused.

Apparently, the photo in question first appeared on the travel website traveladventure.com, particularly on its article about Bangkok’s Songkran Festival, held April 9 - 17, 2011. A couple of Facebook posts said the DOT used the photo as a meme for its "It's More Fun in the Philippines" social media campaign. The photo was said to be published in Singaporean daily newspaper the Strait Times last Jan. 12, in an article titled "Manila goes big on fun to draw tourists." A "Water gun. More fun in the Philippines" text was embedded in the photo.

A Facebook post shows the photo being used online on the same article. The article also credits DOT as the owner of the photo.

Concept on the blind enjoying the country and company is practically the same.

However, in the Philippine version,- the subject person being blind is implied in the first few seconds of the video vs. the SA version, where the watcher was made to believe that he's not, until the last few seconds, when his cane was revealed.

Isn't getting a big private ad group supposed to prevent this kind of thing in the first place?

Both ads are tourism in nature and end with the blind man's cane... Coincidental lang daw, di plagiarized.

McCann responds to plagiarism accusations vs DOT ad
