To China's credit, it seems they already admitted that it was indeed a Chinese vessel that "bumped into" the Phil. Fishing Boat. But that's as far as they want to admit. China just want to contain and minimize any more damage.

"The Chinese embassy in Manila said the crew of trawler Yuemaobinyu 42212 "bumped into" the Philippine boat and then left due to safety fears.

"The Chinese captain tried to rescue the Filipino fisherman, but was afraid of being besieged by other Filipino fishing boats," the statement said.

It went on to say the incident was not a "hit-and-run", as some Philippine authorities had claimed, because the trawler "confirmed the fishermen from the Filipino boat were rescued".

^ and yet sassot and the rest of the dds continue to say otherwise.

What's worse is their blaming the pinoy fishing boat crew for being overly dramatic about the whole incident.

I'm wondering what's the reason behind the doe secretary cusi's visit to the mindoro fishermen. Being an emissary to those unfortunate men is definitely not part of his duties as the chief of the dept of energy.

I think he is a special assistant for MIMAROPA concerns or something. Digong loves these ridiculous job descriptions.

Probably had an inkling that he (boat captain) will be asked to recant his previous statements to the media regarding intentional ramming by a Chinese vessel, and then leaving them to die out in the open sea.

If I were the boat owner, I'd skip the entire meet, too and make the loudest possible noise with the media to get this administration to act.

There's a memorable line in the movie "The General's Daughter" that goes something like this --

    "What's worse than rape?"

    Answer: "Betrayal"

I guess the captain felt it deep in his bones that this government will just sell them down the river to curry more favors from the the Chinese. The same Chinese who tried to murder them.

What's worse than these fishermen's harrowing experience of almost losing their lives at sea? Answer -- The imminent experience of fellow Filipinos throwing them under the bus with glee.

And he'll be asked to do the Duterte fist sign like how the other fishermen were made to do on board a Navy vessel.

So far, the fishermen's narrative bears true, despite efforts from the government and it's minions to discredit it and muddy the water even more. 1) It was indeed a Chinese vessel that hit them. 2) The Chinese did not make any effort to rescue them. 3) The Chinese abandoned them to the elements. Yet, some Filipinos would rather side with offenders than the victims. What a rotten nation we are.

Last week I was listening to TV Patrol when Noli De Castro fist got to interview the Pinoy boat captain of the fishing vessel. Aba, akala mo suspek ang turing at ilang ulit tinatanong kung nakakasiguradong Chinese vessel ang bumangga.

Hindi manlang nagsabi na mabuting buhay silang lahat nung nasagip ng Vietnamese fishing boat.

Look at how they are using the media in making conflicting statements. Their intent is to mislead everyone. Straight from Vladislav Surkov's playbook. LOL
