i never got the logic of widening road/bridge, only to have several lanes merge into a single bottleneck...it might even be cause for more accidents/driving mischief.

Precisely. Adding a bottleneck at great cost and inconvenience.

Useless Chinese project that is going to cost us a lot of taxpayer money.

Ayaw sigurong bumili ng ROW for putting up another bridge at a different location.

    re trucks using bridges

i'm saying enforcement ha, not rules

meron rules -- meron weight limit

or mga lowbed trailer na may kargang 20 or 30 ton heavy machinery

there was this time lakas ng ulan sobra taas ng tubig sa ilog under del monte bridge (del monte ave QC) tapos kasabay ko isang tractor-trailer na may kargang excavator

i know excavators -- that one is at least 25 tons

dagdag mo pa ung bigat ng truck+trailer

load limit yata ng bridge 20T iirc

    wala sumisita sa ganyan

The thing with all administrations...NOT JUST THIS ONE...is that they don't wanna spend for ROW for road widening.

Ever wonder why PNR and Northrail never expanded? It's because several admins could not address ROW issues (and don't want to spend for it).

    Found this old article..

    http://www.dpwh.gov.ph/dpwh/news/11889

Other than the Sta Monica to Lawton Bridge component of the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) – Ortigas Center Link Road Project, DPWH has identified the construction of 12 new bridges crossing the Pasig-Marikina River and the Manggahan Floodway as an urgent priority to provide fixed links over these rivers that will increase the road network capacity in Metro Manila.

Two (2) of the bridges namely construction of state-of-the-art Binondo-Intramuros and Estrella-Pantelon Bridges in Manila and Makati/Mandaluyong will be constructed under full grant financing of the Republic of China.

Other planned bridges are the North and South Habor Bridge, 2nd Ayala Bridge (Carlos Palanca-San Marcelino, Beata-F.Y. Manalo Bridge (Pandacan-Sta. Ana), F. Blumentritt-Antipolo Bridge, Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge, Kabayani-Katipunan Bridge, Reposo-Guatemala Bridge, J.P. Rizal-Yale Bridge, G. Gabriel St.-Mercury Ave. Bridge, East Bank-West Bank Bridge 1, and East Bank-West Bank Bridge 2.

If there's a problem with that bridge because of weight issue sa dami ng dumadaan na vehicles, wouldn't it be more of a problem if they widen the bridge yet pag baba eh two lane lang? Kasi that will create bottle neck and in turn, instead na may moving vehicles, matraffic ang sasakyan sa tulay. Mas delikado ata yun kasi not moving yung vehicles dun and mas mabigat?

Not an engineer here. Di daw designed yun to carry static weight of people na naglalakad.

Obviously there are powerful forces behind this project. If it was just constructed 2011, Mali din yung math ng nagsulat sa article. It's not 9 years old. 7 years old pa lang yung bridge.

And as a fellow tsikoteer mentioned earlier, if it was really that urgent, they would have pushed it no matter what. They seem quite capable of moving Heaven and earth to get rid of their critics, despite ant hard evidence... what more if they can use public safety as a reason?

"Because of our weak bridges in the metro, our national security is now compromised. Mga dilaw an at NPA at si Trillanes and may kasalanan kaya mahihina ang tulay. I now declare martial law to control the situation. I hate drags!"

ADB cuts Philippine growth forecast, expects inflation to hit harder

"The Asian Development Bank (ADB) slashed its economic growth outlook for the Philippines to 6.4% from 6.8% for 2018, as inflation continues to wreak havoc. "
