I watched Duterte's recent speech, just to be sure that the "EJK is my only sin" comment was not taken out of context, as most ka-DDS would quickly argue. I watched the hour-long tirade, and tried to keep an open mind about it.
But all I heard and saw was an old man rambling. He really did say that the EJKs were his only sins. Nothing out of context there. None of the spins that Panelo or Roque said post-facto even made sense in the context of what he said.
It was clearly a slip of the tongue.
The entire speech reminded me of the days when I had to listen to old men tell stories about how good they are and about how much the people they hate suck. It was like listening to a sick, old lolo tell his repetitive stories over and over again while downing several glasses of scotch.
There were moments when he'd digress so badly and his voice would trail off. Then it seems like his wits would make a temporary return and he'd suddenly make a loud statement with emphasis. All of which are not connected at all to the topic at hand. The usual LP bashing, anti-poor remarks, and his favorite Joma Sison. He did try to read his prepared speech...for about 30 seconds. Then back to rambling again.
If you have lots of time and want to our Dear Leader speak firsthand, here's the link:
The statement comes at the 1 hr 7 mins mark. Listen to what he was saying before and after - he wasn't joking nor was it taken out of context.
