I saw Pialago and Nebrija's interview on TV and they look to be very sincere with their jobs over at the MMDA. At their level they can still get away with doing an honest job. Hopefully they don't get used by other politicians with selfish motives.

Am really starting to think that the admin hired these two monkeys to provide misdirection. Nobody can be that stupid or bastos without deliberately being or condoned to do so.

Aquino's term: 2010 to 2016
during those years the US central bank's ultra-loose monetary policy sent tons of dollars to emerging markets like the Philippines
During Aquino's term USDPHP fell to 40
Coz of ultra-low US interest rates, shale oil companies were able borrow cheap money which they wouldn't have had access to in normal times
all that capital fueled the shale oil boom which sent global oil prices falling
during Aquino's term oil prices fell as low as $30/barrel
SO WHAT"S MY POINT?
swerte si Aquino
during his term the peso was strong and oil prices low
both positive factors for the import-dependent Philippine economy
even if a monkey was president during that time, the economy would have done well

i'm not saying this admin has no faults
but this admin came in at a time when the US dollar is gaining strength and just when OPEC+Russia got tired of low oil prices and decided to cut production
weak peso + rising oil prices + tax reform law = negative for PH economy
then there's the self inflicted rice problem
and i said this before -- we didn't need that build3x stimulus program coz the economy is already running hot
governments usually implement stimulus programs when their economies aren't doing well
govt spending makes up for lack of private sector spending but PH private sector spending is healthy so there's no need for gov't stimulus
this tax reform to increase tax collection to pay for build3x is pulling money away from the private sector
at a time when the dollar and oil are expensive
too many negatives happening at the same time
imho, hindi naman *entirely* kasalanan ng current admin ung inflation(pero ung NFA rice and sugar shortage, that's clearly on them)...but it feels like they are pouring gasoline onto the fire instead of putting it out. They may not be the cause, but they aren't even trying to be the cure.
the last admin made it seem like they were responsible for the positive economic performance during their time
they didn't have to do anything and just sit there and watch the dollars flow in
but they did make an effort in deloading foreign debt, which resulted in the credit ratings upgrade. imho hindi nakakaintindi yung masa ang significance nito.
it was during Aquino's term tons of dollars flowed in which resulted in healthy dollar reserve levels
which foreign lenders/credit ratings agencies use as an indicator for creditworthiness
pag madami ka dollars, malamang may pambayad ka
again, another one of those things the previous admin didn't really had to work hard on
it was US monetary policy that did the heavy lifting
zero rates + dollar printing = dollars flooded the world
some of that flowed to PH
