i hope he plans to refuel our ships(does the Navy have refueling ships for that matter?) once it gets there. After that macho speech of his, kakahiya naman kung sa Libya pa tayo humingi ng krudo.
I don't know if he even thought of that at all. Eh he just lets his mouth fire away without giving things a complete thought.

there's a SK citizen kidnapped along with the pinoys
SK sends a warship to Libya
i think it's more symbolic than tactical
it's like their government telling their citizens "your government takes care of all Koreans. We'll send a warship just to save 1 Korean. that's how important every Korean citizen is"
that's what a competent government is like and Koreans expect just that from their govt
gusto gayahin ni du30 hehe
may tanong po ako... di sa minamaliit ko ang PH Navy... pero may warship ba ang Pinas na pwede bumiyahe nang ganun kalayo?
Sa first world, mataas value ng individual lives. Sa Pilipinas, dispensable - lalo na yung mahihirap.
So supposedly inspiring talk of sending a warship feels out of touch.

i read about SK sending warship to libya a day before i heard sa radio du30 wants to send a warship to libya
it's funny nga a 3rd world country like ours is trying to act like a first world country
implications are not funny though coz 3rd world populist leaders tend to do things their countries cannot afford
^ and if that leader fails to deliver on the bluff and bluster...it could lead to his downfall...but sadly, not before the country has suffered.
and people won't get it naman
people wouldn't even notice their 3rd world govt is trying to act like competent 1st world government
even if it's right in front of their face
just look at the reactions here
lahat nagsasabi baket hindi daw magpadala ng warship sa SCS
hindi naman yan ang point
it's more on doing populist things
like free this and that
subsidize this and that
doubling the salaries of PNP. AFP
free college tuition
cash handouts to the poor
fuel subsidy to certain sectors
etc etc
those populist things cost a lot of money (PH govt budget now almost 4 trillion pesos yata)
when the govt can no longer get enough money and starts printing money we'll get Venezuela-style hyperinflation
point taken sir...but the lack of military presence/intervention at WPS is only part of the issue...the more glaring matter is the concillatory, even defeatist, attitude towards China.

AFAIK, meron.
Yung mga dating WHEC (weather high endurance cutter) Hamilton Class Cutters that PNoy's government bought from the USCG.
The distance from the PH to Libya is about 6,000 nautical miles. The BRP Gregorio del Pilar and her sister ships can go for 14,000 nautical miles. A newer ship, the BRP Davao del Sur (LPD) can go for 9,000 nmi.
Talk of the town ngayon...
I guess that what matters most to them...

kaya i watch things like USDPHP, PH dollar reserves, trade balance, current acct deficit, inflation rate, BSP action or inaction etc
gotta catch early warning signs if things start to go bad
buy dollars and other assets that will hold value in hyperinflationary times
coz by the time bad things are obvious it's too late
loss of confidence in a currency happens very fast
