    78 percent isn't miniscule.

Number of Filipinos satisfied with PH democracy declines—SWS

    Gabriel Pabico Lalu
    June 12, 2018 12:07pm

A recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed that 78 percent of adult Filipinos in March 2018 are satisfied with the way democracy works in the country, which is slightly down from the 80 percent in June 2017.

Out of the respondents, 60 percent also preferred a democratic government to any other form, 19 percent would sometimes prefer authoritarianism, while 21 percent said that the form of government does not matter.

SWS said that the results of the survey, which was held from March 23 to 27, was obtained through face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults, with 300 each coming from Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

According to SWS, this is the lowest satisfaction rate during the tenure of President Rodrigo Duterte, after a record-high of 86 percent in September 2016, and the second-highest mark of 80 percent in June 2017.

However, this lowest mark still fares better than that of Duterte's predecessors, as the record high of former Presidents Fidel Ramos and Joseph Estrada was at 70 percent and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was at 68 percent.

Only former President Benigno Aquino III touched the 80 percent level, which was on June 2013 after the 2013 Midterm Elections.

The satisfaction of Filipinos toward a democratic system is higher than the average European, as Eurobarometer said that for November 2017, an average of 57 percent are satisfied with how democracy works in 28 European Union Member States.

The numbers for Latin America even go lower according to a June 2016 Latinobarometro survey of 18 countries in the region, where an average of 34 percent were appreciative of the brand of democracy within their government.

The research firm maintains sampling error margins of ±3% for national data, and ±6% for each locale.

Duterte warns of ‘revolution’ in Mindanao if BBL fails to pass >> Manila Bulletin News

These kind of statements are more detrimental than hopeful. Plus it creates a facade na pass or fail lang talaga BBL.

Alam naman natin na dapat na talaga matapos problema sa Mindanao, pero pati ba naman ngayon ganyan pa rin rhetoric. Tinatakot pa taumbayan eh.

in 2008, when the supreme court struck down the moa on ancestral domain creating the bangsamoro juridical entity as unconstitutional, armed clashes broke in lanao del norte, north cotabato, and sarangani waged by biff (a break away group of milf) headed that time by commander bravo.

when the bbl was not passed during the time of aquino, caused in no small way by the saf 44 tragedy, no clashes of the same magnitude that was brought about by commander bravo, because the milf are hopeful that this bbl will be passed this time when the president is from mindanao, who presumably cognizant what they are fighting for.

now, if this bbl would fail even if the political landscape is favorable to its passage, war in that place is really not improbable.

Style niya yan to fit his narrative. Parang china lang. Either war or hinde.

Gago lang naniniwala sa mga sinasabi niya

Re posts above, what I really mean is that a better point of view regarding BBL and its passage should be the narrative.

Not one that incites more violent emotions since magulo na nga. Sabi nga ni shadow, style pananakot kasi, para mas madali na naman magdeclare ML if ever may gulo. PDigong and his chinese boss are destroying us from within. Lahat solution gulo if hindi masunod gusto niya.

The height of clashes in mindanao happened in the 70s during the time of marcos after the infamous jabidah massacre. I have personally witnesed tank rumble in the streets of iligan city at that time

BBL failure will never match that level of volatility in mindanao. Theres not much foreign support for their cause nowadays. Conflict in syria took it away from the moros

BBL should be given a chance. It should be scrutinized very well because if we do it wrong then it could pave the way for losing mindanao as part of our territory and be part of malaysian federation

We should not foolishly accept the threat of heightened revolution. It happened a long time ago

do you know how many died in 2008 as an off-shoot of the disapproval of the MOA-AD? more or less 400.
do you know how many were displaced? about 750,000.

this bbl is long over due. this should have been passed during the Aquino administration. if this bill would not be passed now, the probability is very high that another rounds of violence will take place in the bangsamoro. even milf's murad ibrahim and mohagher iqbal are already frantic.

there was already a precedent. it could happen again.

your personal experience is irrelevant here.

have you read the bbl, both the aquino version and now? i did. and there is not much difference.

Do you know that jolo burned during the time of marcos

Do you even understand the consequence of BBL if you really have read it?

Do you even agree to something that you could regret under the cover of PEACE?

Like i said give BBL a chance, scrutinize it

Dont just agree to it because digong said so and threatened heightened revolution

Im NO dutertard, are you a dutertard atty?

irrelevant and immaterial to the discussion.

i advice you to read the two versions. unless you read and understand them, you argue with all the valor of ignorance.

don't tell me what i agree or not agree. it's the most asinine advice you can give to some people. hindi lang ikaw ang may utak.
