I think, in DENR you need more than just "pinagaralan" to take on the job. It takes passion and real malasakit sa kalikasan. Gina Lopez had been in places with worse poverty case than PH. She understand what being poor really means, and what are the reason why these people are driven to that low. One of the factors is private corporations' abuse of their lands, their food, water and livelihood - Mining industry is one.

Gina lopez was feared by Mining firms. Cimatu was welcomed with open arms. There's a reason for that, and it would not take a rocket scientist to spot it.

    This is tumpak.

    Not only that.
Loan deals with China has options for PH to pay in mineral resources in case of default - yes that means any mineable ore they can get. And the loan has interest so high, its almost certain PH will default. This means we are doomed to pay China by allowing them to suck our resources dry.

Gina Lopez wont allow this of course. So they made sure they will have someone there who will allow it, and make it look like Du30 has no hand on it.

    What a play.

Does that mean they'll do the actual mining themselves? Would be interesting to see if they comply with the standards.

Yes. 99% of Chinese mining companies are a state-owned, remaining 1% is state-shared or partnerships that expires over short periods of time.

These companies employ generally chinese workers, using chinese technics, technologies and methods. That means few if not absolutely zero job opportunities will be there for locals.

We say Local mining firms (many are multinational firms with local representations) just dig in there, extract the ore and when its over, leave the environment and its community half dead. They are in a way answerable to our weak Laws imposed by the weak DENR. Now come China, du30's master and commander -- do you think they will care for our land, people and DENR?

I think the price of minerals are based on a certain spot market price, like in other commodity. But China wont care about the price here. They extract, they sell, they share some to us. If the mines run dry, they leave it, look for another, until we completed paying them up -- say 20 years? Du30 maybe dead by that time, but worry not, 16million voters will surely put Sarah before the inevitable happens.

Davao consortium files bid as 3rd telco player >> Manila Bulletin Business

Hopefully this works. If it does, one big laurel to PDigong's achievement.
