Hmmm... ano kaya pwedeng itawag dito?

Anyway, I was making my senatorial list and so far around 8 pa lang ang medyo solid ako.

Yung iba walang ka-appeal appeal talaga, either due to personality or sa track record.

Why is Bongbong afraid of Jessica?
POSTSCRIPT - Federico D. Pascual Jr. - The Philippine Star
    January 25, 2022 | 12:00am

Pre-campaign surveys show ex-senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. leading his rivals for the presidency by the proverbial mile three months into the May 9 national elections.

Strategists say that Marcos should not disturb the political tailwind carrying his family back to the Palace that they were forced to abandon in panic at the height of the People Power Revolt in 1986.

So when the son and namesake of the deposed former dictator was asked to join four of his major rivals to what was billed as the Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews of GMA Network last Saturday, he turned down the invitation.

But there had to be a good reason for opting out of what has become the traditional holding of presidential debates or a fair facsimile thereof, during the campaign.

Marcos then dropped the bomb of a reason – that multi-awarded broadcast journalist Jessica Soho, the host of the interviews, is unaccceptable as she is allegedly biased against the Marcoses.

GMA Network went ahead with the Soho interviews without Marcos, but with the other four (Isko Moreno Domagoso, Ping Lacson, Manny Pacquiao and Leni Robredo, listed here alphabetically) in attendance.

    * * *
The turn of events kicked up a political media storm whose full impact still has to be felt. The rivals of Marcos apparently made an impressive show as underdogs, further highlighting an alleged fear of Marcos to join public discussions.

A variation of the supposed reason for Marcos’ not attending the interviews worked its way into the public mind.

Under this scuttlebutt, the real reason for Marcos’ hesitating to join the interviews is the supposed fear of his handlers that he may not be able to hold his own in the full glare of public scrutiny as issues are discussed.

The appeal of the four other presidential aspirants was accentuated by the absence of Marcos, the survey favorite. His hesitation to meet big issues head-on is traced by some quarters to Marcos himself knowing his limitations.

Confessions are appearing on social media, supposedly of Marcos followers moving to the camps of other presidential aspirants who had shown their mettle, sincerity and competence in the interviews. But then, cyberspace is a minefield of lies and fake news.

Has Marcos’ fear of being interviewed except by certified media friends backfired in the Soho case?

What we saw Soho throwing at all the interviewees were not biased barbs but the usual tough questions that could trip a pretender to the presidency.

The Q&A looked like a job interview, with the whole neighborhood watching, for the top executive post in the land. The applicant could display his/her sterling qualities but could also expose vulnerabilities and inadequacies.

Hearing the well-researched questions that Soho asked of all the four interviewees, we think Marcos had reason to be afraid of being interrogated live by her without a lawyer/spokesman by his side.

Marcos’ absence reminded us of that Friday (01/07/2022) when he was also a no-show in the conference presided over by Election Commissioner Rowena Guanzon hearing petitions to disqualify him as a presidential candidate. He said then it was his fever. Now it’s Soho’s bias.

Had his live Soho interview pushed through, Marcos could have ended up fidgeting in the hail of questions on hidden wealth, martial law abuses, Swiss accounts, a gold hoard, tax-evasion, his failure to earn a college degree despite unlimited funds, lack of leadership and executive ability, etc.

With a high-rating TV program showing not only his answers but also his demeanor, Marcos could have lost votes had he joined the interviews. That is how cruel the medium could be.

His alibi that Soho was biased against him looked lame as she has been consistently asking tough questions on all the guests, who were given similar fair time to respond.

Many of Soho’s questions were what a compromised TV host would not ask. It was evident that hers was not an entertainment show or a PR job to project or protect the good side of anybody. It was a hardball public affairs program.

We did not see or feel in the Soho interviews any bias for or against any of the presidential wannabes present or absent.

    * * *
The interviewees were asked about their proposed programs, their views on corruption, the COVID pandemic and the economy, foreign investments, maritime incursions by China, vote-buying and election contributions, poverty alleviation and job generation.

For those interested, some of the interviewees’ detailed or qualified answers are in the news section.

Domagoso, who loves to talk of his having been poor, was asked about tong collections from sidewalk vendors, what his most valuable property now is, his pocketing millions in campaign contributions and his flitting from one party or political partner to another.

Former national police chief Lacson cited his tough anti-corruption stance. He was asked about his having been linked to some high-profile kidnapping and murder cases, and his going into hiding when the heat was on.

Pacquiao, boxer-turned-politician, was asked about his absences in Senate sessions and his tax cases, his handing out cash in his sorties, how he reconciles his Bible-based religious beliefs with his stand on LGBTQ issues and his relationship with President Duterte.

Robredo was asked about the consolidation of the fragmented opposition, why she was running as an independent candidate after being elected VP under the Liberal Party, the comparative shortness of her having served in elective offices.

FORMULA NG MARCOS NETWORK, BISTADO NA PO

Gawing lovable celebrity ang Marcos family. Ultra-charming daw at inapi parang Cinderella.

Palabasin na evil widows sina Cory at Leni sa pagkamatay ng asawa nila - wala daw ginawa to get the truth on their deaths.

May isang kakilala ako na nagmamagandang-loob by sharing an inside story. Kwento niya, for a budget of PhP 10 million, nakahanap yung grupo niya ng 50 influencers, mosty Bisaya-speaking na walang gagawin kundi purihin nang purihin si Duterte in the campaign for the 2016 elections.

Questions we must ask ourselves about Bongbong
THE CORNER ORACLE - Andrew J. Masigan - The Philippine Star
    January 26, 2022 | 12:00am

The right to vote for our president is a privilege. It is like being given a chance to choose our very own parents.

The Philippines is our family and we are all her children. Thanks to democracy, we are given the opportunity to choose who is to lead us. We must choose the parent who provides the best for us, be it by means of health care, education or housing. A parent who creates the ideal conditions for us to prosper in our chosen fields. Above all, a parent who is sincere, honest, fair and law abiding – one who is a good example of what a respectable Filipino should be.

Bongbong Marcos is leading in the polls. I would not have a problem with this if his lead was gained fair and square. Fact is, Bongbong rebranded himself through lies and disinformation, with court records to prove it. This is why we should question Bongbong’s legitimacy as a candidate and as a person.

Before we make our final decision, we owe it to ourselves to know the facts. As advised by Ateneo professor Ed Garcia, we must ask ourselves the hard questions about Bongbong and form our judgment from there.

First, on Bongbong being a good example to our people, if elected. How can our citizens be enjoined to pay their correct taxes when the father of the nation has been convicted for tax evasion on numerous occasions and still refuses to settle his tax liabilities? How can we be sure that the war on drugs will be carried-out with credibility when the father of the nation is himself an alleged cocaine user? How can the youth be enjoined to excel in academics when the father of the nation lies about his diplomas and even failed basic economics and political science?

How can we be a nation that upholds the truth and how can we be credible to the international community when the father of the nation lies through his teeth at every instance? How can we, the citizenry, expect to be the priority when the father of the nation has prioritized himself all his life? How can we trust a man whose closest allies are convicted plunderers like Gloria Arroyo, Erap and Bong Revilla?

Second, on plunder. Has Bongbong admitted that his family amassed ill-gotten wealth during the presidency of his father? Has he helped the justice system take its course or has he tried to obstruct justice?

The evidence is compelling. In 1986, the New Jersey Superior Chancery Court ruled that the Philippine government has provided sufficient evidence that the monies and properties it recovered from the Marcoses belong to the republic. In January 2009, Switzerland’s Federal Supreme Court ruled that the Marcos family kept numerous accounts in Swiss banks.

In 2003, 2012 and 2017, the Philippine Supreme Court decided that plunder was perpetrated by the Marcoses against the Filipino people. From 1986 to the present, the PCGG recovered P174 billion from the Marcoses with billions more under litigation. When the dictator died, Bongbong refused to pay the estate tax of P23.3 billion. Today, with interest and penalties, the amount stands at P203.8 billion.

Despite multiple court rulings, Bongbong still insists that his family never stole a single centavo from the Filipino people. Look, if Bongbong is indeed sincere about his intentions to lead the country with honesty and integrity, the first step should be to own up to the sins of the past. Only after atonement can reparation take place.

But Bongbong has done the opposite. Instead of cooperating with the courts, he continues to deny the existence of ill-gotten wealth and has made every effort to derail the legal process. Neither has he offered to return a centavo to the Filipino people. This reeks of malicious intent to keep the stolen loot.

We should also question how the Marcos family maintains their lifestyle without a legitimate business or source of income. To partake or consume of ill-gotten wealth is equivalent to playing a part in the crime. They are just as guilty as the father.

Third, on human rights abuses. Has Bongbong admitted that human rights abuses took place under the hand of his father? Has he made any effort to do right by the victims?

Let’s examine the evidence. Amnesty International documented 3,257 cases of “salvaged” victims, 35,000 tortured victims and some 70,000 arbitrary arrests during martial law. The Commission of Human Rights dealt with 11,103 human rights victims from the period 1972-1986. In 1995, a US District Court jury ruled in favor of a class action suit filed by human rights victims with damages awarded to them.

The fact that Bongbong has not admitted to the human rights abuses of his father shows a sheer lack of empathy towards the victims. He prefers to defend his father’s grievous sins rather than do the right thing. This makes him as cold, egocentric and ruthless as his father.

This puts to questions the very motives for him seeking the highest office of the land. Is it to right the wrongs of the past, effect socio economic reforms (no policy has been presented by Marcos so far) and build a stronger nation? Or is it to quell all efforts to recover the stolen wealth and vindicate the Marcos name?

In all good conscience, we the Filipino must answer these questions before we cast our vote. Let us not forget what is at stake – our freedoms, our economic wellbeing, our international reputation and the future of our children.

So i asked my DDS friend why he can stomach voting for Ping when we were both at EDSA 2 and he even wrote a column on Youngblood how while he can stomach illegal gambling and to a certain extent even corruption, he cannot stand murder (Bobby Dacer case). Hindi siya makasagot. Well at least he won't vote for another Marcos.

BTW, I always found Ping a bit effeminate. I saw a video of him back when he was wanted over the Dacer case and he was caught walking through immigration and out of the country. His gait was a bit, I don't know...

Ex-NEDA chief attributes BBM’s lead in surveys to “huge troll farms”

BBM’s lead in surveys is due to his huge troll farms using social media claiming the Marcos martial law regime was the country’s golden years— just the opposite of the facts: killings and imprisonment of opposers to the regime, plus spiriting away billions of people’s money,” Pernia tweeted on Sunday night.

Pernia doesn’t care who wins the presidency as long as it’s not Marcos, who he says is a “college flunkie”, a “tax evader” and a big liar.

if manalo marcos son i dont think matapos nya 6year term. Binubully sya ni presdu. Pinapakita inutil ka lang. Sabihan ka drug addict. You are not your father.

It will broaden my behaviorist masteral in relational mind.

My guess is, hinihintay nilang mag retire si R.G. before making their move.
