Mga sirs, ang sabi saken ng mga kapwa diesel owners ko na maganda daw pag nag pa carbon flushing/cleaning ka ay bumili ka ng wonderlube kasi ang ganda daw ng effect niya sa mga diesel engines nila. I'm from commonwealth ave, fairview. Do you guys know any shops that specialize in carbon cleaning at may stock ng wonderlube?

Jaeger posted the thread below on 07-07-2006 and I am quoting it again because it is very relevant.

Before you spend 2,500 to 5,000 pesos for a carbon clean, TRY CME (coconut methyl ester) BioDiesel first. Popular brands are BioActiv, Envirotek and Estrol.

With the full implementation of the BioFuels Act next month (May 2007), all diesel to be sold in the Philippines will be pre-blended with 1% CME/BD.

Kung mausok yun makina mo, before you spend lotsa money on Fuel Injection System repairs, calibration and/or Carbon Cleaning -- TRY a 2%, 5% or higher blend of CME/BD to flush your Fuel and Combustion System. (or ADD more CME/BD than what is pre-blended.) You might only need to spend 75 to 150 pesos to get better results.

Doing so, also helps produce cleaner emissions. Read more about CME/BD in the BIODIESEL RULEZ forum and post your diesel Fuel Mileage or Fuel Consumption in the "WHAT IS YOUR DIESEL FUEL CONSUMPTION?" so we can track the fuel savings that 1% CME/BD usage will produce.

Bagask kasi emission test ng '99 Starex ko last April 2005 (opacimeter score was 3.2, passing is 2.5) then I saw this thread and a similar thread dun sa kotse.com so I did the carbon clean routine on my Starex in July 2005. The improvement in throttle response was very noticeable-parang dating VTi ko yung acceleration nya after carbon clean (sarap ihataw).

It was only after the carbon clean that I discovered the wonders of our CME biodiesel; so I started using biodiesel only then (July 2005) to keep the fuel delivery system of my engine perpetually clean. I load 1-liter of biodiesel every half tank of fuel so my blend is whereabouts of 3%.

On my emmission test last April 2006, yung opacimeter score ng Starex at 3,000 rpm was 0.48 and at 4,000 rpm the score was only 0.55 (a far cry from 3.2 last year)

Now with regular biodiesel use, I don't think carbon clean is necessary anymore (my opinion), coz they do the same job of cleaning your engines fuel delivery system.

Hi Guys,
I'd just like to share my experience on removing the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) on my 2000 Isuzu Trooper.

Problem:
I had problems with the build up of black smoke / carbon on my exhaust. I was ashamed to rev up more than 2.5K rpm as the black smoke would reach the vehicle behind me. Even if I had the intake manifold cleaned at the casa, the problem still keeps coming back. Nakakahiya talaga!

Action:
I talked to Pajero Guru Joseph Atutubo to have my Trooper checked and he informed me that taking off the EGR would take away the black smoke and increase power. He said that the diesel in the Philippines isn't as clean as the diesels in Europe. The EGR is for European compliance, but this isn't advisable on our diesel.

So I had Joseph fabricate an EGR cover for the Tooper by measuring the size of the actual EGR. We blocked off the EGR location with a metal cover.

Results:
After the EGR was taken out & the metal cover was installed, I tried reving up up to 4000 rpm and found out that the black smoke was instantly removed. I drove the Trooper to Tagaytay recently reving up to 4K RPM and was overjoyed to find out that the Trooper didn't disipate any black smoke from the exhaust. Moreover, the over-all response of the engine improved.
