sayang yung makapal pa na tires kung papalitan na agad after 4 years * 35,000 km only. For me, I'll buy 1 pair muna for the front, then after 2 years, buy another pair for the front, yung 2 year old na tires, sa rear na sya ilagay. Then after 3 years, buy 1 pair ulit for the front, yung 3 year old na tire ilagay sa rear, and so on.
Tire Tech Information - Tire Aging – Part #1The British Rubber Manufacturers Association (BRMA) recommended practice, issued June, 2001, states, "BRMA members strongly recommend that unused tyres should not be put into service if they are over six years old and that all tyres should be replaced ten years from the date of their manufacture." .......
More recently, the Japan Automobile Tire Manufacturers Association (JATMA) recommended practice, issued May, 2005, states, "Customers are encouraged to have their vehicle tires promptly inspected after five years of use to determine if the tires can continue to be used (recommends spare tires be inspected as well). Furthermore, even when the tires look usable, it is recommended that all tires (including spare tires) that were made more than ten years ago be replaced with new tires. Additionally, because in some cases automobile makers--based on the characteristics of the relevant vehicle--stipulate in the owner's manual the timing of tire inspection and replacement. Please read and confirm the content of the owner's manual." ......
Our experience has been that when properly stored and cared for, most street tires have a useful life in service of between six to ten years. And while part of that time is spent as the tire travels from the manufacturing plant to the manufacturer's distribution center, to the retailer and to you, the remainder is the time it spends on your vehicle.
Up...
Read the whole thread, walang nagbanggit na nagpapalit sila pag na-vulcanize na and tyre.
Hindi ba sya factor?
tread depth indicator or when the tire is noisy... yan lng ang reason for ko...

Any sidewall damage, it's an instant tire replacement. (including running on flat) Hence it's quite beneficial to find out if the tires you're buying has sidewall impact tech/enhancement of some kind...
In my case... Depends kung sino and saan ginagamit yung car...
Kung ako lang/City driving, I don't mind kahit ubos na yung thread
Wife and Daughter's car - once the thread hits the markers, it's time for a replacement
Out of town trips and car ko ang gagamitin, then I try to replace a month early (baka kasi may defect tire ko)

I know someone from Melbourne (I have a lot of stories from this guy since wais sya sa buhay... better term is magulang)
He bought a tire from a reputable service centre with warranty... Before the warranty ends, I-run flat nya konti yung tire para mag karoon ng side wall damage...
Tire gets replaced and the new tire will have a warranty again, same procedure later...
I check the thread depth, may markers naman sa tyres.
If mejo makapal pa, i check the "lutong-ness" of the rubber based a peels and cracks.
If marami ng cracks, then my tyres are due for replacement.
The mfg date is not that important to me, i check it last if all three criterias above are met. If makapal pa pero 7 years na, palit na.
1. Any major damage;
2. Thread depth wear indicator is out and i have around 20-25% thread left, or;
3. When i'm not happy with the performance and wet grip.
tread, not thread
thread yung sinulid yun
ba't ganun. parang 95% of the population wrong spelling![]()
I stopped frowning at these wrong words in forums a long time ago. Convinced myself that i don't need it to be perfect as long as we know what it means or understand each other.

that's the definition of sloppiness. pinoys can't be world-class if we're sloppy. this culture is so pervasive that's why everything pinoy is sloppy, just look around
anyway, for top quality tires like michelin i'd feel comfortable using them up to 10yrs from manufacturing date, as long as there's absolutely no damage
