Mine is a 1st Gen Adventure and used to changed coolant every 2 years (average of 20k km per changed) Surprised i was advised by the technician to avoid using coolant and instead to use just distilled water and have a regular monthly flushing daw is enough.

Its part designation is "Bypass Hose". It's function is not 100% clear to me.

However, if you take a moment to analyze it, it seems that it allows for excess water pressure from the high-side of the radiator (driver side) to dissipate into the low-side (passenger side) of the radiator in situations during high-revs.

Another, more simpler reason would be to allow air pockets/bubbles to escape from the high-side to the radiator neck on the low-side.

yan din isa sa naisip ko, last ko naisip ay baka ito yun dapat para sa supposedly heater, kaso wala naman need ng heater sa atin and para makatipid imbis na radiator design ang i-alter ay i-rekta nalang back sa radiator hose? di kasi kita, but that side tube from radiator cap, is actually 2mm (+/-) larger than the one exiting to the reservoir. makes sense ba? O_o

Your technician is good. He knows. I use distilled water too (Absolute or Wilkins), and I only flushed every 6 months ( vehicle use everyday), or for a year (if the vehicle is often use). I always look and check water in a radiator, and also other point to be check inside the engine bay before starting the engine.

If water is a solvent, then I nor we should not be drinking water since we are born in this world.

Pabasa na lang sir.. Ibang "Solvent" ata yang nasa isip nyo.

Our kidneys and water make a great pair

Our own kidneys and water's solvent properties make a great pair in keeping us alive and healthy. The kidneys are responsible for filtering out substances that enter our bodies from the foods and drinks we consume. But, the kidneys have got to get rid of these substances after they accumulate them. That is where water helps out; being such a great solvent, water washing through the kidneys dissolves these substances and sends them on the way out of our bodies.

You mention here that water is a solvent, not me. That's is why I questioned YOU, if water is like that, never we, people be drinking it, since our birth.
