you don't dilute the coolant depending on how many rows your radiator is but rather depending on the total capacity. o'm sure even 1 row radiators have more than a 2 liter capacity. which means you should have put minimum 1 liter of coolant.

if that's what written on your manual then i think it's designed to stand that long. pero IMO it's better to check your coolant from time to time. this is just to make sure na nasa tamang level parin sya.

My Isuzu Crosswind XUVi A/T did used coolant since day 1 from casa up to ~ 3 years, then bumigay na ang top head ng radiator. I had it repaired locally (I didn't know that time about Evercool Radiator), nilinis nila at nirebuild ang radiator. I had it repainted in black to make it like brand new. According to some thread here in tsikot, some uses pure distilled water in their radiator. So that's what I did. Nagkasya mga 4-5 liters of Wilkins Distilled water. ~4 months now, and when I open the radiator cap I don't see any white particles, and my resrvoir has never been refilled since the repair.

I hope it stays that way. So coolant is important? May be but not all the time.

that is because the top of radiator is disposable.. replace it with brush type/ bronze or a brand new evercool.. My plastic top radiator leaked.. 10 years of use..

does anyone know if the Cheap Whiz coolant (120 pesos, 500ml) is ok? it is much cheaper than prestone....

does low price = poor quality = bad for your engine?

i plan to use this for my 1990 corolla.....

    thanks!

Yes. It's important. It's not only for the radiator. It is also for the water pump and other aluminum components of the cooling system.

The cooling system is not just the radiator. It is a system comprised of the radiator, hoses, water pump, thermostat, water jackets, etc.

But then again, whatever floats your boat.

    Obiwan,

How much is the total capacity of your car's cooling system (you can ask www.grupotoyota.com.ph in case you don't have the manual anymore). Check the label. From what I recall on our former Corolla, anything that's ethelyne glycol based is ok. Is the WHIZ coolant pre-mixed or will it be diluted (mas mura kasi ang pre-mixed because you have to use lots of it). If concentrate siya, mura na din. Just mix at the correct ratio.

Btw, I use other Whiz products (they're a big company). Not exactly high grade stuff but good enough for a daily driver/commuter car as long as you follow the proper maintenance intervals.

thanks Otep, LOL i like your photo!

the whiz i see in SM ACE is a small container that says you just dump the contents into the radiator, so i guess i will just do that and mix it with distilled water since its just a daily commute car (but i like it!)...

    cheers!

I think I put the same stuff in the Vitara (will check the service record). But I bought the Whiz coolant from GlennSter's auto supply in Kamias. Mura kasi replacement parts and may in-house mechanic sila.

Coolant is very important: anticorrosive, antifreeze, antiboil, lubes water pump, prevents cavitation, etc.

To be safe stick to what your car originally came with. This is particularly important for cars with super long life coolant (5 year coolant) like Toyota Pink coolant or Honda Type2 coolant. If you mix another coolant you may have compatibility issues and your coolant life gets downgraded to 2 years only.

    Maganda pag may coolant: why?

I have a question? yung nabili ko sa petron na coolant... medyo blue ang kulay... but when I added it to the radiator parang wala... di ko na makita , parang naging clear...

did you noticed the same, for those who already used a petron radiator coolant?

I used pre-mixed Prestone, P130+(ata)/500ml sa suking auto supply kong binibilhan. Or try nyo din yung 'Quaker City' Coolant (parang Coke in can buksanan), mura lang, around P120-P150/500ml sa mga auto supply dame nagkalat 'to, concentrated pa!
