While I was initially satisfied with the performance of my 07 strada, recent events have made me think twice about the over-all reliability and durability of my ride. After having carefully driven my rig for only 4,380 km on well paved roads, I felt an unusual click whenever I turned the steering wheel and a never-ending and annoying squeak whenever I hit minor bumps.

Wasting no time, I drove back to Manila and had my 5k PMS at the casa and to have the problematic "click" and squeaking diagnosed. After a full day's work the mechanics at the Casa dutifuly removed the squeek via basic lubrication. However, I was informed that the whole steering assembly was damaged and had to be changed! When I inquired on the possible reasons for the damage, the chief mechanic could only offer me a clueless shrug. He told me that they are still learning to understand the quirks of the new Strada!

Unfortunately, the parts required were not on stock and had to be ordered. In the meantime I am on standby until such time that the case gives me a ring once the replacement parts arrive.

While everything is still under warranty, it begs me to think why such an critical part of the vehicle was easily damaged at this very early stage? I bought the Strada precisely because of its promised off-roadability and toughness compared to other vehicles. I had barely warmed my seat with my rig and I had not even visited any project site and this happens!

At this rate, I am verry worried of what comes next. Will my strada become a mere city driver and never get to taste the rural areas, just so that I prevent its further deterioration? I hope not because its such a waste of 1M spent for a lemon.

The people at the Casa have been very helpful so far. It has been a week and I am still waiting for their call. In the meantime the Strada sits forlornly at the garage while I use my sedan instead. The folks at the casa have told me that it is safe to use the rig at its present condition, however I dare not do so. The clicking sound is growing alarmingly stronger and you cannot be too sure, a catalclysmic event just might happen at the speeds that the strada is capable of.

I shall keep you posted on the developments on my problematic strada!

mine too!!! casa told me that they need to replace the whole steering column.. nde ko lam ano yun.. galing pa namn ako province panay rough road dinaanan ko. so yung steering wheel ko para nang nag vibrate..

Dalawa na pala yong may problem sa steering. Sana hangang dalawa lang.

Actually, tatlo na kami na may problema sa steering ng strada, as far as I can recall from the thread: thumper, guy and me.

Am still waiting for the replacement part, its been two weeks, still no call from Diamond Motors Q. Ave.

hay naku, badtrip nde ko pa dn nakuha today, sabi ng citimotors antay nila technician para i align yung sa steering.. grabe week na ako nag aantay.. ang tagal sobra.... sana pag tapos nito nde na masira ulit...

sir, on the process na po ang regarding sa steering wheel. di pa kasi nag arrive yung parts kaya delayed ang updates.

regarding steering prob...so far, wala naman after offroading at pinatubo and sagada. laki pa ng gulong ko. from stock to 275/70/r16 bridgestone AT, tapos palit ulit to 285/75/r16 mickey thompson baja radial MTZ on AR wheels..walang suspension lift. post ko pics bukas..only prob i had was the aircon.malamig yung air from driver's vent, pero dun sa passenger side walang lamig. dinala ko sa citimotors. ok na ngayon. my unit is gls MT.

sir guy kumusta na ung pinaayos mo? nadala u na ba ulit dito.eto kagagaling long vacation. balak ko kumuha pero ung 3.2 na inaabangan ko. kaso nga eto pag uwi dito sa pinas 7 daw na kapila na sa mitsu sa cabanatuan para sa 3.2.hehe... pagnaluwas manila hanap ako ng konting pila.pero hindi malaking prob ung nasira sayo? mga magkano kaya un kung hindi na under warranty?

maybe il wait na nga lang. tutal di naman ganun kahaba ang pila di tulad ng fortuner noon at ung crv ngayon. and maybe il wait for the feedbacks on the 3.2 b4 getting 1. pero di naman cguro nagsisinungaling mga taga mitsu sa cabanatuan about the release this end of july. kc pinagdodown na ako ng 50k for the unit.take note tentatively its 50k more than the 1.250m ng 2.5L. and an automatic 20k discount in every mitsu dealer.sa manila mahaba na pila?nanginginig lang laman ko.gigil na ako!

After 2 weeks of waiting, the new steering column of my strada has finally been installed. I just got my truck out of the Casa today and on the drive back home the irritating "click" is gone.I will drive farther out of the city this weeksend and I hope the "click" does not come back.

BTW, I mentioned to the service manager the possibility of the mis-installment of the left and right wheel bearing and snap ring as the source of the problem as had been posted in this thread. But he told me that they have orders from Japan to replace the whole steering column in similar situations as my truck. Anyway, under warranty naman so I didn't push it any further. I just hope that this finally solves the steering woes of my rig.

Naku si louchua, he doesn't even have a new strada all he has is a nissan eagle pick-up, i dunno why he posts so much in this thread and pretends to know a lot bout the new strada! hmmmm?

Lou's white strada is really neat bt i jst saw the black one, damn ang lupet,wl bias coz my car's also black! hehe
