Thanks a lot for the help. Valle verde and the plant technician met me this morning. They were accommodating. Thanks to those guys. A real soldier for the company. I salute them.

There is nothing to worry about the "thug" sound after all. It is just uncomfortable. It happens when you start the engine and then immediately turn to "on" the key without hanging it long at "start".

The good soldiers showed a video of what causes the "thug" thing. It is a designed c like metal that prevents the engine and trany to vibrate more than an inch when starting. the c metal is designed to "catch" another metal covered with hard rubber. when the rubber hits the c thing, there the "thug" is felt.

What I "think" is the engine support is made soft so that the entire body wont shiver when starting the big engine but its softness compromises/makes the engine vibrates hard enough that needs to be ("catch") controlled to avoid it hitting the chassis or body.

What the technician is saying is that the c thing prevents the soft rubber engine support to tear rapidly/early.

Whichever, the “thug” is nothing to worry. It is just irritating big time. So there you go.

I and a few members have a problem our units: 3.2 4x4 GLS SE. A "thump" sound when starting the engine. The mechanic says it’s the trany hitting the chassis.

Does this happen everytime you start your engine? :dunno:

Hi sir Howie:

I was also planning to install that pen type Apexi turbo timer in my 4x2 MS but when i consulted my long trusted mechanic and friend, he told me it was not necessary daw. Even most turbo powered vehicles he is servicing and maintaining - land cruiser, prado, and patrol - are not equipped with turbo timers. Kaya i decided not to have it na lang. But it is safe nevertheless, nothing to worry about electrical failures whatsoever.

Hi sir Howie:

I was also planning to install that pen type Apexi turbo timer in my 4x2 MS but when i consulted my long trusted mechanic and friend, he told me it was not necessary daw. Even most turbo powered vehicles he is servicing and maintaining - land cruiser, prado, and patrol - are not equipped with turbo timers. Kaya i decided not to have it na lang. But it is safe nevertheless, nothing to worry about electrical failures whatsoever.

thanks sir sergi.... while i do trust and value the advise of experienced mechanics, i'm decided to install the timer na if it would help maintain the performance and extend the life of my unit. thanks again for sharing the info.

when i went to my tambayan sa Motorplaza Baguio, i was surprised that about 5 Montero Sport 4x2 were sold in one week! Not bad considering that Baguio is a very small city!

i wont be surprised if any of those 5 new Monty owners will start posting here... hehehe....
