Mga bro, magrequest sana ako ng inputs from the community.

I am about to buy my first car next year. I have zero driving experience. I am currently considering either a sedan (2015 Mazda 2 * 0.91M) or an SUV (2015 Montero GLX * 1.22M) and will definitely go with an automatic transmission. It will be mostly my wife and I who will use the car with the usual home-office use plus some occassional out of town trips with the (extended) family. We also plan to have kids of our own next year. Money wise, I can afford either car and can stretch my budget to the 2015 Montero GLS-V model with its heavily discounted price of 1.32M while the 1.5M price tag of the 2016 model is on the fence (although I'll probably stay away from the new model as I cannot justify that much expenditure on my first car).

Some specific questions for the SUV option:

    1. Is the GLX version underpowered or can I just compensate with my driving style via manual/sportronic mode to get the most juice out of the engine? I wont do severe offroading, but I would need the car to climb baguio reliably at full load.
    2. There seems to be a lot of things that I can get with the GLS-V model, number one of which is the VGT for more power. Given the 100k difference between the GLX and GLSV 2015 models, do you guys think the additional bells and whistles is worth the money?
    3. Given the SUA issues (which I think is driver error in general), any issues I should expect if I purchase a 2015 montero? I am a bit concerned about the potential resale value, although I do not see myself selling the car for at least 5-8 years. Also, there is the proposal from some sides to ban the montero in the road (which i think is stupid but its election time and some idiot politician might make use of "public outcry" to gain some votes).
    4. Any reputable dealer you guys can recommend? Citimotors in Makati?

Thanks a lot in advance for the help! I've already read countless pages here and boy...it feels like home already. 😊

Polsihed it and glass coated the whole car, after one year hndi halata yung ibang color.

    Try ko sagutin isa isa:
    1) It is definitely not underpowred, kayang kaya nya full load, even with 2 bikes sa likod paakyat ng Baguio. Mag sportronic mode ka nlng para hndi sya mg shift agad, pero if you learn how step on the gas to make it stay on low gear or suddely shift sa low gear, pwede narin ito. Ganito gnawa namin Manila to Tugegarao and pabalik.

    2) I think this is subjective, yung power is ok na, just dont know compared sa newest gls model. For me yung amenities ng interior ang pde mo habulin sa gls, pero kung ok na sayo interior ng glx, then it wont matter.

    3) issues? Non really, so far sa gamit ko. Atleast for me, things that i dont like ay mausok, which is given dto sa old engine model, and maintenance cost. Which i think is the same with gls.

    4) Got mine from Alabang, madali naman kausap.

    Hope this helps.
