December 30th, 2015 07:57 PM #3307Mga bro, magrequest sana ako ng inputs from the community.
I am about to buy my first car next year. I have zero driving experience. I am currently considering either a sedan (2015 Mazda 2 * 0.91M) or an SUV (2015 Montero GLX * 1.22M) and will definitely go with an automatic transmission. It will be mostly my wife and I who will use the car with the usual home-office use plus some occassional out of town trips with the (extended) family. We also plan to have kids of our own next year. Money wise, I can afford either car and can stretch my budget to the 2015 Montero GLS-V model with its heavily discounted price of 1.32M while the 1.5M price tag of the 2016 model is on the fence (although I'll probably stay away from the new model as I cannot justify that much expenditure on my first car).
Some specific questions for the SUV option:
1. Is the GLX version underpowered or can I just compensate with my driving style via manual/sportronic mode to get the most juice out of the engine? I wont do severe offroading, but I would need the car to climb baguio reliably at full load.
2. There seems to be a lot of things that I can get with the GLS-V model, number one of which is the VGT for more power. Given the 100k difference between the GLX and GLSV 2015 models, do you guys think the additional bells and whistles is worth the money?
3. Given the SUA issues (which I think is driver error in general), any issues I should expect if I purchase a 2015 montero? I am a bit concerned about the potential resale value, although I do not see myself selling the car for at least 5-8 years. Also, there is the proposal from some sides to ban the montero in the road (which i think is stupid but its election time and some idiot politician might make use of "public outcry" to gain some votes).
4. Any reputable dealer you guys can recommend? Citimotors in Makati?
Thanks a lot in advance for the help! I've already read countless pages here and boy...it feels like home already. 😊
