As far as I know, Honda, Ford, and Mazda, every 6 months na sila. Don’t know about the others.

    for toyota,
every 5000 km or every six months, whichever comes first.
it's standard pms schedule for mineral oil.

    for kuripots like me, it's
every 5000 km or every six months, whichever comes last.

So it seems to me arbitrary lang yang 5k.

it's been like that for us ever since the start of our (amin!) written automotive history.
i suppose, the number stuck, even as manufacturing tolerances and design have evolved.

i just think of it this way: i'm not just changing spent oil; i'm removing the fine metal shavings.

    ako puro gasolina kotse.

    Gaguhan naman sa casa.

Once a year oil change ako. Minsan nga sa low mileage car ko eh once in two years. Kung may accessible lang oil test gusto ko nga malaman kung parang transmission fluid na you follow the kms not the years.

After its second year, have been doing 10k km or 12 months which ever comes first for our gas cars. So far, no issues at all. I use only FS oil.

Even when the Jetta TDI was under warranty, it followed a 15k km or 12 months change oil cycle. I just did its oil change outside casa last month and it was so much cheaper.

I think *travajante posted it before.

Pag MT, diba mas pwede base sa mileage than years in use?

Pero alala ko yung 20 year old Revo namin (sold na), twice lang napalitan. Mileage nun mga 140k kms lang ata.
