You maybe right. But public safety is a concern of LTO when it comes to the driver. You did not consider the corruption in this country. Anyone can have a professional drivers license as long as you have the money to pay corrupt agency like LTO. Car lobbyist maybe involve in this too, for market positioning. Other owner may take advantage so they can no longer pay their obligations.

Just because the Montero does not conform with/copy the design of a preferred brand does not mean that there is a design flaw. I have a 2002 Lancer A/T (and still driving it because the Montero is too big for a lone passenger) and I can shift gear without applying the brakes. But I never experienced any SUA (good thing), just because I don't readily shift w/o ensuring that my foot is at the brake pedal and that the hand brake is engaged.

Mitsubishi vehicles are known for power (speed for the Lancers and high torque for the diesel units), dependability, and durability; unlike the other brand who's famous for under-powering their units just to get a better profit margin.

The point is, it is the role of every RESPONSIBLE driver to get familiar, adapt, and get accustomed to the vehicle before driving such. That is why we see drivers adjusting the seats and mirror, testing the pedals and gears, etc before starting the vehicle.

The problem is not with the Montero, it is with the LTO, for giving a driver's license to just every interested Juan or Maria without really evaluating the capability and understanding of such person.
