January 11th, 2007 10:46 AM #1MACOYS,
Happy new year po! QUestion po.

You can also call it a lift-up tailgate.
Tulad ng nabanggit, mas maraming disadvantages ang stock tailgate-mounted spare tire, chief of which is the hassle of undoing the spare tire mount assembly before you get to open the tailgate. Way too much trouble than it's worth, IMO.
Last edited by Bogeyman; January 11th, 2007 at 04:18 PM.

January 12th, 2007 12:34 PM #6Thanks for the tip, I also considered changing the entire back door to open sideways, much like a Highlander, but from the looks of it, mukhang sobrang mahal ipa-alter ang buong likod.
Mukha kasing mas maporma at rugged kapag naka-mount sa likod ang spare tire e. And I think it's more convenient to change tires with this set-up rather than the current set-up na nasa ilalim ang gulong.
But then again, with all the disadvanteges that you said, I'd rather not sacrifice it for "porma" looks. Hehehehe!

the stock adv that has its spare tire at the back with the stock back door opening up is the grand sports version... tama sila madami nga disadvatage at the same time kung immodify mo yung likod para lang malagay dun yung spare, malaki talaga ang cash-out mo... yung gen1 medyo madali para sa kanila kasi sa hinge ng stock door nila sa likod kinakabit yung lalagyanan ng spare tire but for the gen2, kailangan pa maglagay ng hinge sa side ng likod to mount the case of the spare tire... so in short dami pa gagalawin sa ride para lang mangyari yun...

get the spare tire holder of the grand sport variant but yes it'll cost
you huge and not worth it. Maganda lang talagang tingnan but hirap
everytime you lift your tail gate.Last edited by XTO; January 15th, 2007 at 04:27 PM.
