"The affordable seven-seater war is on, and right now the triumvirate locked in battle are the Honda BR-V, the Toyota Rush, and the Mitsubishi Xpander. Recently, the latter has just achieved a feat that may well put it at the top of its class in one vital aspect.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines, with the help of the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), recently tested the fuel efficiency of the Xpander GLX MT and GLS Sport AT variants. These were driven along SCTEX and TPLEX with four "other competitive models" using the same parameters as the Department of Energy's eco test.

Over an average distance of 236.58km, the manual Xpander netted 21.01 km/L while the automatic did 22.94 km/L. The unnamed competitors (some of which were diesels) didn't do nearly as well—the third model did 19.8km/L while the least efficient only got 17.4 km/L.

That's fairly impressive, especially when you consider that the automatic is only a four-speed. It would seem that Mitsu's 1.5-liter DOHC gasoline engine, with its 103hp and 141Nm, is an economical powertrain. Having said that, we'd be curious to see if the results are similar with a full load of passengers and cargo."

it's a legitimate question, in my opinion.
although it may have been worded in an arguably brusque manner, it still translates roughly to, "what is your basis for saying so?"
and as the responder, responded well, "we are all the richer for the knowledge".

in fact, enlightened buyers will probably do well to peruse the specifications sheets, as the post-er did, and compare the differences, before making their choices.

Maybe Mitsubishi should have thought of building the Expander units here as well, instead of just relying on their Indonesian plants to accommodate the already ballooning orders particularly from the PH.

Poor planning perhaps? Or under estimated demand?

they already said reservations ang mauuna.. limited naman talaga.

also assembly cannot be done here if there are no suppliers.

Supply is realy tight, they even sold their lone mall display unit. The slot is now occupied by an MS, while the 2 rush unit beside it are still on display.

a combination of both, i say.
it's a new product, and mitsu could not predict (then) if it was gonna be a runaway bestseller, or something to run away from.
and it takes a lot of time and financial studying, to transplant manufacturing from there to here.

toyota also had the same (happy) experience, back in 2005.
the waiting list for the fortuner then, was as long as 8 months, according to my SA.
"but doc, the innova is in the bodega, if you want one now."

    Inevitable ba ang dealer's incentive?
Kung wiling pa maghintay ng 2-3 months additional, baka pwede maiwasan? haha

if the unit is in hot demand, casas & SAs can tack on all sorts of gimmicks, and there will still be takers.

if the model is languishing, they can give discounts, in hopes of attracting buyers.

Yup it really is so tight. Mine was reserved last week and will be available end july to aug na. My SA said that distribution will now be handled directly by the plant locally. The plant will directly communicate with the buyers regards to the availability of their unit based on the number que on reservations

Diba dapat pag display models mas mura? Since sya yun madalas nang nabubuksan or nauupuan na sa mga casa? Unlike pag bago at maiinit init pa haha

3.5 liters lang pala motor oil ng engine, i noticed that the battery cable medyo maliit maybe because of the 7 plates battery. Okay talaga leg room ng xpander
